Body itching
I’ve had almost unbearable itching for over 3 months. Was prescribed hydroxyzine, but it doesn’t seem to help. It started when I was in the ER having a very frightening allergic reaction. I was given an epinephrine iv, and a breathing treatment. My legs started to shake uncontrollably. Then I couldn’t breathe, was given an injection of something at that point. I’m taking benadryl and paxil but don’t know how much longer I can deal with this.

Yes now I do ...looks like bug bites with a raised rash all around it. I have it on my scalp so that part is hard to see.
@jeanne5009 My apologies for not responding to you. I have autoimmune issues, and kidney disease caused by hyperactive immune system. It seems to me since the rash is localized to scalp and back, it may be a contact issue. Bedding, or new shampoo/conditioner, perhaps? New laundry soap? Change in vehicles, now receiving a different type of light? Change in medication [either dosage or type, including over the counter]? Change in anxiety or stress levels, sleep patterns, or diet? Having a compromised system due to your cirrhosis may lead to hypersensitivity from nothing that you can put a finger on. Do oatmeal baths work to calm the skin down? I hope we have given you some ideas here.

@bailey32 Oh, my, keep demanding some positive action from your doctor's. Get a new one if needed. This sounds so uncomfortable, and depressing to suffer with!

Thanks...lots of new ideas. I'm going to another derm next week..maybe he has some magic potion. We all seem to have our battles..I hope you conquer yours!
Hope you are getting thru the battle...dont stop.
You mentioned a biopsy showing eczema. What type of eczema? As I have mentioned you must get the exact name of your type. If Allergic Contact Dermatitis the 5 Day Extended Patch Test will identify the names of your allergens so you can avoid them. Don't settle for the general term "eczema".
@gardeningjunkie
I will see her this week and find out. Meanwhile I've got an appt with another derm. Thanks for your help...this saves me lots of time learning the hard way...
Have them check your tryptase levels and do biopsy of your skin where rash is the worst. Allergist and Dermotologist would be best for all this. Check Mast Cell diseases. I have been going thru this constant for 3 years now ever since knee replacement. Turned out I was allergic to replacement and had revision but still having issues. Pain, itching and rash constantly getting worse. Turned out my tryptase is high and had biopsy and I have Mastocytosis. I see the doctor for that Wednesday to figure out which one. Prayers for answers and to feel better! I know what you are going thru!

Thanks for your help...take good care of YOU!
Merry Itchmas!
I know knee replacement is in my future in a few years, but because of all my allergies I am concerned about a reaction like you are dealing with. Because of your post I now have more homework to study what is- typtase and mastocytosis or mast cell disease is. I feared an allergic reaction to the synthetic mesh put in 3 years ago to tie up bladder prolapse and was told it would be safe and it was. Great successful results! But putting foreign substances in my body is a gamble and would rather use a walker than deal with the misery of 24/7 itching and raised inflammation level pain which is inescapable. I know, I have been there. I will pray for you mrshonesty (love your blogging name), prayers helped me with a miracle cure for an autoimmune disease I got at age 50 disappeared totally 5 years ago- gone! Shouldn't have happened according to medical science.
