MAC and Fatigue

Posted by macspouse @macspouse, May 23, 2018

My husband's 2nd episode of MAC is in remission; after 6 months of Azithro., Etham. and Rifampin; sputums are negative, bloodwork essentially stable. He has been taken off all three for a week, because of excessive fatigue. Any help would be appreciated.

@windwalker The Asian ginseng is not for the elderly for sure. I don't think the quantity would make the difference. It is the effects to the body no matter the quantity. You are not supposed to use large dosage with either type of ginseng.

@windwalker If the ginseng you are taking comes in vials, it can't be in its original form, i.e. roots (whole or sliced). If it is ginseng product, meaning something that is made with ginseng in it like tea or other product, it is not powerful at all. Pretty much anyone can use it. When I say Asian ginseng is usually not used by elderly people, I mean ginseng roots. Chinese prefer ginseng in its original form rather than products that contain ginseng. Same with American ginseng. The American ginseng I buy for my mom comes in packages of tiny sliced pieces. They can be put in dishes or soups. I also buy ground ginseng (powder) which can be put in without being cooked. But these are ginseng without other ingredients added.

@ling123 The only ingrdients in the vials are ginsing, royal bee pollen and 5% alcohol. It is plenty potent enough for me. I couldn't handle anything stroner because of my heart. These vials that I use have to be consumed in the morning, otherwise I am up all night. Good to know other more pure forms are available.
