Adults On The Autism Spectrum
Maybe you were really shy as a child. Perhaps you took home a huge stack of books from the school library, read them, and returned them the next day. Or did your best friend find you crying in your closet, unable to answer the question "Why?" At any rate, your life could be traced to the Self-Help section of the local bookstore. Unfortunately, most of the books were not much help. ADHD seemed to fit, at times. Your shrink said you might be Bi-Polar, although she wasn't really certain. All you knew was that you rarely fit in, anywhere. One day at work, it hit you square in the face: I don't speak these people's language! Really, it was like you were all playing this game, and everyone knew the rules but you. You couldn't tell a joke, and you never "got" any joke your co-worker tried to tell you. People started getting annoyed with you, because you had a memory like a steel trap. They didn't appreciate it when you called them on the carpet. Who knew? This was my life, and worse. I finally aced several tests that pointed me to the answer to my questions. The Autism Spectrum. Guess what? Little kids with Autism grow up to be Adults with Autism. Diagnosed late in life? This is the place for you!

Oh, @gingerw , that is a wonderful idea!!! I pray that these random acts of kindness will spread like wildfire!
I believe they will!
Love and light to you!

Hi everyone. Today is Wedneaday, August 7, 2019. Here in the Southern United States, at least.....
We have members and guests here from all over the world! I hope that wherever you are on the clock, that you smiled, you laughed, and if you cried, you called on a cyber friend or a fleshandblood friend to pour our your troubles to.
There are many private groups on social media for us. Oftentimes cyber friends become as dear to us as fleshandblood friends. That has happened here on Connect. Many of you have supported us, encouraged us, and just had our back. That is a really good feeling.
Neurodiverse and Allies alike are invited to come here and chat. Share experiences, strength, and hope.
Within the next few weeks we will launch our book club, a welcome addition to the Spectrum Cafe.
We welcome you to the group. Pull up a chair, and stay awhile. We would love to get to know you.
We are better together.
Goodnight, me lovelies!

good morning gran gran
As auties, we see things in very linear, black and white fashion. Today is a prime example. Over the last several months I made contact with someone in the closest big town that shares a Zentangle passion. She made plans and arrangements to come today so that we could do some artwork together. Her comment was she would be here by noon. It is 4 hours later, with no communication with her, and no idea if she is okay. I have time issues, that is true. But I find it very disrespectful to not have communicated with me. I gave her my cell number and she has my email. I am working very hard at not taking this personally, but at this moment it's hard not to. There were other things set aside to meet with her today. It helps to have vented to you all and my sincere apologies for whining. As I would say to a friend, "would you like some cheese with that whine?"
Ginger
@gingerw I think most of us would feel as you do. To not show up after agreeing to is certainly impolite, to say the least. I hope the rest of your day goes better! I'll take cheddar with my whine!
@gingerw, Oh my goodness....there is someone else out there who has the same issues that I have. Either I don't have a clue how to negotiate the site procedures and processes because I don't use them enough or I use them so often that they are automatic for me but I can't explain them to anyone else. Talk about between a rock and a hard place.
Thanks for giving us updates on your move. Have a lovely evening looking at the mountain. I do miss the mountain I lived on for 20 years. It was my rock, the way I related to the rest of the world. Now, I don't know whether I am going North or South, East or West. Even when I try to orient myself to the Mississippi River........it does run North to South......I get all turned around. Maybe it will take another 20 years.
we make plans to do stuff and arrange stuff and able bods think its ok to either blow us off or rock up when its appropriate for them and not for us and expect us to accept it
@sirgalahad In 3 different emails she spoke about today. Her response to the email sent today was " there was a communication snafu. I meant Saturday." No can do that day.
Ginger
hmmmmm
@gingerw So sorry Ginger that is certainly rude to say the least . Sounds like something came up with her but she should of emailed or called you .
