Co-Enzyme Q 10 (100 mg daily) Stops Statin Leg Pain

Hi, I'm taking 20 mg Atorvastatin and my legs were aching. My great Cardiologist told me that statin medications rob the body of the supplement Co Q 10 and taking 100 mg a day would alleviate the problem. I take now Co-enzyme Q 10 100 mg daily and it totally stopped the leg pain. Hope this is helpful to some.

I buy my coq10 at vitacost.com, but make sure you get Ubiquinol the most absorbable form.

Affirming that, while the body converts Ubiquinone to Ubiquinol, the most absorbable form, some bodies can't convert it, so agreing you want to get the co q 10 that says "ubiquinol."

Maxi-Health is one of the better brands out there. (No company affiliation).

I had the same experience. I developed terrible aches in my joints and they thought I might have rheumatoid arthritis. But my PCP thought it might be a side effect of the statin I was taking and suggested I take CoQ10. Within a couple of months of starting the COQ10 my joints were back to normal.

Thanks for sharing that and glad you're better, too. On the statin I couldn't sleep the leg pain was so bad after a while, and my Cardiologist said to take 100mg a day (Ubiquinol form is needed pretty much - read the label) and bye bye leg pain.

Thanks for letting me know about taking a look at vitacost. As you know, supplements aren't regulated by the FDA and you never really know, therefore, what you're getting or potency-wise, UNLESS, imho, you know which are the top brands, including, but certainly not limited to, Maxi-Health (but not cheap!), omegabrite.com (A+++), Solgar, Bluebonnet, and so many others; it's trial and error and reading!

Many thanks for supportive data, for efficacy of Co Q10; being in India, trying to get the popular brand and tried to contact a
pharmaceutical company for some helpful info. May be, my puzzling right thigh pain could be relieved.
