Thyroid? Or something else? Constant internal shakiness
Going on 2months now everyday non stop. Sometimes mild and im able to ignore it but over the hours of day it becomes more severe and causing my heart rate to go up and my blood pressure to go very high (170/99) its episodic. Ive been to hospital for it 3 times for it and received no treatment as my vitals slowly return to normal. Xanex helps me feel calm but does not help the shakiness just helps me not get upset about it. Am only 28 years old and hypothyroid. I have never had symptoms like this in my entire life just started out of nowhere. Iam in good sTate of mind and aware of what's happening when the episodes happen. So far my doctors are clueless.

Hi I too also experience internal vibrations with unknown etiology. My neurologist thinks it is stress associated with the pandemic and prescribed Gabapentin. I am wondering if with more time you are discovered what is causing your symptoms, possible treatment or if they remain? Please update me- Thank you
Hi @david1972, Welcome to Connect. @jsrbr may not have seen your reply so I added the Connect member name so that they receive an email notification of your post. Here are a few other discussions on internal vibrations that you might find helpful.

Has the Gabapentin helped with the internal vibrations?
@moman My son, too, had Graves’ disease. He opted for the I-131 treatment. It’s a radioactive iodine that he took in liquid form and then had to self-isolate for 4 days. He’s still doing great 10 years later!
Have your doctors suggested surgery?
Good morning David , my local neurologist is puzzled with my issue .He referred me to Shands and do to corona am having to wait until June for my appointment. Stress does make it louder if you know what I mean but isn’t the cause . I will keep you all updated.
Hello. I'm new to the site
I've been hypothyroid for years. The last month or so my numbers went low so she decreased my meds at the same time I started having muscle or nerve twitching in my calves and feet. Went for more bloodwork three weeks into new meds and my numbers are above the normal reading. I was wondering if anyone else had the same problem with legs and could it be tied to my thyroid. Thanks Pat
Hello @lorelai47, Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. Hopefully other members here that have a similar experience will be able to respond to your question. You mentioned that the muscle twitching started at the same time your thyroid medication was reduced. Have you discussed the new symptoms with your doctor?
Hello, I think this has been discussed on here, but I'm new and looking for any help that I can get. I have this weird and worrisome internal vibration (that's the only way to describe it) in my neck area and chest area. It started in September/October 2019. I actually had an ablation done on my heart due to PVC's. I was in bigeminy and trigeminy off and on for days! It was horrible and I could not function. The ablation did not get rid of the PVC's, but lessened the feeling of them, but they were still there. My EP put me on Flecainide about four weeks after the ablation because they came back. I currently take Flecainide 75mg twice a day. I've also been to the ER several times for this and they tell me it's anxiety. It's mainly at night when I lay down, but now it's happening during the day. Way worse at night. I've had stress test, echo, and calcium score, all of which were normal. The only thing that was not normal was my carotid artery scan, and that came back with a 1-49% blockage, my cardiologist told me to clean up my diet and exercise more. My insurance company called me and the nurse there said for me to get a second opinion on the carotids. I see a cardiologist at UTSW in Dallas next month. The weird thing is that if I put my hands up near my neck and throat area, I can feel my pulse there, and it feels like it's bouncing around, But, my pulse is normal in my wrist and carotid area on neck. The EP did say that the Flecainide couple be messing with the the nerves ?? I'm so tired of this and it's so scary. I go to bed every night not know if I'm going to wake up. Anyone have any suggestions? Thank you!
Hi @txfishergal1 and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect. I see that you are suffering from internal vibrations in the neck and chest just like a host of other people in this discussion. You will see that I moved your inquiry to a large conversation discussing just that. I would encourage you to read through the 10 pages above and try to connect with some of the members like @david1972, @jewles63, @champton, or @happyat76 who have posted about internal tremors or shaking.
@txfishergal1 Are you keeping a log of you blood pressure and heart rate? Are you checking before and after you take your medication?
How strange. I too have the internal tremors in my hands mainly.....with overall stiffness and muscle weakness mainly in upper extremities. I also have noticed tiny cramping in my foot area (from where toes are and into the arch). Its really weird. My ft4 is 0.95, my ft3 is 2.9 and rt3 is 17.5, tsh ranges from 1.4 to 2.2. Family history of thyroid issues on moms side. Can this be related to thyroid?
Welcome to MayoClinicConnect @saska . You’ve definitely picked the right discussion to follow. Everyone here is a volunteer so we help each other by sharing what has worked and what hasn’t on our health journeys. We’re not medical professionals so we can’t diagnose or prescribe.
Well ask members like @david1972 ans @jewles63 and @happyat76 and @champton to come back and maybe relate what they’ve learned.
In the meantime, read them this entire discussion. Maybe there is something to help. Have you asked your family members who had thyroid problems, if they ever experienced this shakiness?
