Does CBD oil help you with your depression and/or anxiety?

Posted by lalyfa @lalyfa, Feb 24, 2018

I am curious to know if anyone has had success with CBD or Hemp oil helping with depression/anxiety? I’ve been reading a lot about it and am curious.
I've been reading about this and am very interested but would like thoughts/opinions from anyone who has actually tried it or knows someone who has. TIA

Thank you,
Laura

The reason why CBD oil is more preferable over prescription drugs is because it doesn't have all of the side effects (drowsiness, disoriented, possible nausea, ect). The point of both of them is to help you calm down and function more regularly. CBD depending on how much you take can last longer than medication, and doesn't have side effects (but it does taste like dirt). Essentially, CBD is preferred because it doesn't disorient your mind, and sets you up to function as a human and be more relaxed instead of anxious. With CBD oil, it isn't "instantaneous" like medication, it's something that develops over a period of time. One recommendation is to try THC in combination with CBD for energy. At low levels (5-10 mg) the effects are not debilitating for most people. There are a lot of studies that show synergy with CBD and THC, so you can experiment with ratios of CBD/THC. I've tried CBD alone and with THC and prefer the two together. To me CBD was sedating. You can make your own edibles if you don't want to smoke and pre-made ones are too expensive. I got med card https://dr-weedy.com/medical-marijuana-card-san-diego/ so I tried tons of different products.

CBD (Cannabidiol) is a chemical compound which can be found in the cannabis plant. It’s a natural substance that is often used in products such as oils or edibles to induce a feeling of calm and relaxation.

I have been on anti-depressant medication for a long time. So, I decided to try CBD oil capsules from a reputable company. It wasn't the lowest dosage, but not the highest either. I think about 300 mg if I remember correctly. Tried it for about 8 weeks. I didn't notice enough improvement to justify the price. I wish you the best.....it may be worth trying since everyone is different.

Hi, @joy425 - were you considering taking the CBD oil capsules in addition to your antidepressant, or instead of the antidepressant?

Has your antidepressant helped you?

Yes, I took the CBD oil caps in addition to my regular antidepressant medication. The medication I take works pretty well - I'm certainly more functional with it than without it. But I have major depressive disorder, so I'm always on the lookout for something that may boost the effects of the medication without being harmful. If the CBD oil caps were to come way down in price I might try it again.

My CBD costs about a dollar a day, less than a cup of coffee. I need them both.

I went off Effexor 18 weeks ago. I've had my ups and downs. And I'm taking a few supplements. But I've been seeing a lot about CBD oil. Don't know if I should take it or not to help me over these these humps I get once in awhile. I would like any input. I have researched a company called. Mary Ruth which is financially less expensive than a lot of other ones. The real news for the company are good. Anybody use this.

Hi, @wandasophia - since your post was about CBD oil for depression, I moved it here to you could meet others talking about DBD oil for depression and anxiety. When you talk about your ups and downs and considering taking CBD oil for the humps you get once in awhile, are you talking about some depression that comes through, or any side effects from having tapered off the venlafaxine (Effexor)?

@gailb, where did you purchase the CBD. I also have been curious about the product, but there are lots of sellers on Amazon, but I hate to purchase a supplement that I don't know anything about the seller. Most of them you can find some pretty good lists of sellers that have good reputations. If you could give a brand name that you used and liked, I would appreciate it. If that is something that needs to be a PM, that will be fine. Thank you, Gary
