Does CBD oil help you with your depression and/or anxiety?

Posted by lalyfa @lalyfa, Feb 24, 2018

I am curious to know if anyone has had success with CBD or Hemp oil helping with depression/anxiety? I’ve been reading a lot about it and am curious.
I've been reading about this and am very interested but would like thoughts/opinions from anyone who has actually tried it or knows someone who has. TIA

Thank you,
Laura

For @karen00. Many thanks for your kind words. Deeply appreciated. Like you, I, too, have been on many antidepressants, and I am still on a cocktail of antidepressants. Like you, I, too, know that I will be on antidepressants for the rest of my life, how long or how short, I do not know. Frankly, when I first became ill, in the prime of my life, I did not expect to survive for even 10 or 15 more years. But here I am, 25 years later, and counting. At the moment, I pray to God to give me life till I am seventy. Every year after that will be a bonus. I must say God has been kind; I never expected to survive this long, as I have said before. And maybe He will grant me my wish to reach 70 years of age. I now have more hope than I had before. You were lucky in a very important sense--your psychiatrist taught you never to lose hope, which, in my view, is more important than any medication. It gives you the strength to fight your illness when the chips are down. God bless you, Karen, for writing to me. I will pray for you.

For @pankaj Pankaj, I can see you are an insomniac, too. But I guess that’s part of what life has dealt us. May I ask - did you have an incident that knocked you down or was it insidious (crawling til you had to notice)?

I take 6 drops of 750 cbd Oil morning and night with my doctors approval. It has taken away my pain. I went off of it for a few weeks because of uncertainty legal. I had such terrible pain and I told my doctor and he said get back on the cbd. And stay on it.

Yes, I have been taking 300 mg CBD oil for the last 2 weeks for arthritis. It hasn't helped my pain but I've never been so motivated to do new things in my life. I was taking Wellbutrin but it didn't work this well and there are no side effects at all. I have to assume it's the CBD because I'm not taking anything else. This was just an unexpected benefit. I take 2 drops under the tongue twice a day.

Thanks for this information and glad you are doing well on the CBD oil! I have much arthritis, anxiety and depression. My psychiatrist doesn’t believe in effects of CBD oil. I’m on Zoloft and Inderal for depression and withdrawing slowly from Xanax which has been horrible.
I want to try CBD but have apprehension due to these other drugs but they’re not helping. Any ideas anyone? Thanks much!

@karen: There was no incident Karen. My illness was insidious. It was a result of childhood trauma--I lost my childhood at the age of 12, when my father died young [at the age of 48]. My family had to face difficult times and there were other traumas, too. I was a very sensitive and delicate child, and the traumas had a devastating effect on me. I believe that my illness was largely the result of the traumas and facing difficulties early in life, which caused a lot of stress. That is the story of my life. Regards.

For @rascal1: I have used Xanax a few years ago, for several months. I don't think you can withdraw from Xanax by substituting CBD oil. What is your dosage of Zoloft? If it is very low, you will find it hard to taper Xanax. How old is your illness? When did it start? How long have you been on Zoloft? How old are you? Please let me know. Maybe I can share my experience with you. I am not on Xanax anymore. God bless you.

75 year old woman on Xanax for many years (about 10 off and on) increasing over last two years to 3-4mg/day.
Now titrated to 2.5mg/day. Zoloft at 100mg for 2 month and probably increasing per dr to 200 today.
Have a history of generalized anxiety.
Many life traumas in last two years- passing of 47 year old daughter , son divorce, surgery, euthanasia of my dog, etc.
Dr treating depression more aggressively than anxiety now so holding off on further reduction of Xanax for now but very shaky.
Thought perhaps CBD oil in addition to Xanax, Zoloft, Inderal and Seroquel at night for sleep might help now. I also have a lot of pain from arthritis with impending replacement of both shoulders.
Thanks for your willingness to help !

I have heard stress kills. This is true in many ways. I am sorry for the stress in the lives of many.
