Does CBD oil help you with your depression and/or anxiety?

Posted by lalyfa @lalyfa, Feb 24, 2018

I am curious to know if anyone has had success with CBD or Hemp oil helping with depression/anxiety? I’ve been reading a lot about it and am curious.
I've been reading about this and am very interested but would like thoughts/opinions from anyone who has actually tried it or knows someone who has. TIA

Thank you,
Laura

Hi there. Do you think that coming off Lyrica is about like coming off Gabapentin? I have been as high as 3600 mg of Gabapentin, and I can't seem to get below 1600 without getting anxious and depressed with extreme insomnia. Thanks.

I do think it’s very much alike. I had to do a slow withdrawal from Lyrica. I started last October and finally took my last dose in March. It did a number on my, severe anxiety, spdepression and agorphia. I lost 33 lbs but only weighed 128, so I am in my 90’s now and I don’t love me my look. I was in the ER for dehydration and severe nause, IV and nausea medication given which. Still take when I can’t stand food. I was on 300 mg BID for 5 years and decided to stop it because I lost 6 teeth, my implants have not been cheap! So your tapering is showing me the same as I went through and still am. Therapist says it can take up to two years before you start feeling better. Tr7st. E I’ve thought man6 times I don’t want to live like this especially when I have an awful day which are more then not

How long were you on the Lyrica?

Hi all. I am totally new to CBD oil and just now resorted to it after battling depression, anxiety, and Bipolar Disorder for most of my life. I am 34 now. I am currently taking Lithium, Lamictal, Abilify, synthroid, and Gabapentin as all of these meds were added in a desperste attempt to manage my symptoms (mainly depressive episides with anxious tendencies). What are anyone's thougts or knowledge on augmenting these meds with cbd oil and is there potential that it might help me to be able to reduce dosages or discontinue them? I have more questions, but that is all for now. Thanks for any feedback.

You are taking a number of powerful drugs right now. I recommend strongly that you check with your doctor before you try CBD. I was taking Gabapentin about a year ago for pain, so I don't know why your doctor has put you on it. I was having bad side effects from it, including not being able to think clearly and losing my memory. It was not an easy withdrawal, but I did it. Your doctor put you on the drugs you are taking, and he/she should help you get off them using CBD as long as there is no reaction constraints when used with your other drugs. You can also talk with your pharmacist as they are specialists in drugs, interactions, and withdrawal or tapering off.

I found CBD only, helpful for my anxiety, and for pain when combined with THC. But, I am no longer taking any other drugs. I used CBD to help in my withdrawal from Tramadol, and it really did help. Talk with your physician first. It would help us understand your needs better if you can describe what you were experiencing when you began taking each of your current drugs, and how long you've been taking each, as well as the doseages. Please tell us as much as you feel safe sharing here. I'm looking forward to hearing your information.

So sorry, you did say you were on it for 5 years. Wow! This stuff is a beast!! I was on it for only 2 1/2 weeks and I'm still titrating down after four weeks. I was on 75 twice a day. And I became super depressed, thinking of dying. I have been taking CBD oil but it can only do so much up against withdrawals. Some days are better than others.

I too have had terrible side effects such as losing my memory. It scared me. Drugs.com was a valuable resource for me. Of course my decision to go off Lyrica was an easy one because the side effects were so severe.

Yes I was on it for 5 years, I had no side effects from it until I came off of it. Everything I’m experiencing now usually happens when you start it. Crazy ass shit, sorry
