Hello everyone!
Many events are held each year and many news stories are published that may interest the transplant community. We thought it might be nice to let people know of some of these events and stories, even if they may not apply to everyone. In this discussion, feel free to post events and news stories that might be of interest to transplant patients, caregivers, or donors.

Hello everyone, I hope everyone is safe and healthy on this beautiful Wednesday morning which, in any other year, would be Tax Day! Today we have some unfortunate news for those who attend our yearly picnic in Rochester. Due to the uncertain situation of COVID-19, the Transplant Center Patient and Donor Family Picnic to be held in Rochester, Minnesota, has been cancelled. The picnic is an annual event that was to be held on July 26. Our primary obligation is to the safety of our patients and their families, and we hope to see you again in summer of 2021!
Please share this post to anyone who may need to know, and stay home and stay safe in the coming weeks!

The publication of this Mayo Clinic Study marks the most significant advancement in surgical technique for Polycystic Kidney Disease patients that I know of in my lifetime. Kudos to Dr. Prieto and the other brilliant individuals who made this happen. Big call out too to Lynette my Transplant Coordinator who ensured everything aligned behind the scenes.

2 ReactionsThis brings tears to my eyes! My husband just had his 4 month successful post kidney transplant checkup at Mayo Scottsdale last week. We are indescribably thankful to our daughter for her gift of life. Both of my Beaners are doing well! There have been some hard days, but more good ones. The Mayo Team and All of you have helped me more than I can say. Jolinda, I will find a way to share your story even if I have to stand on rooftops! That would be a sight! Thanks to you, to Dawn, to your Mayo team and to the newscasters for sharing your story. Stay well.

3 ReactionsI too, am so grateful for my successful transplant done by Dr Prieto. It’s been two + years since my daughter donated one of her kidneys to me. We are both doing well. Whenever there’s a story on the news about a kidney donor and recipient, I’m totally drawn to it and it can be emotional, remembering how fortunate I am.

6 Reactions@jolinda I did find out that Medicare part b also covers transplant meds but I'm guessing your saying anyone? Is that also for any transplant or just Kidney.
