Low back pain & neuropathy issues
68 years old and lower back+neuropathy issues make staying active hell. Used to be avid jogger and now cannot be on my feet for more than 10-15 minutes. No meds help. Very depressing.

I might start going to senior center for lunch. Cut down on my costs. Did you ever think we would have to worry about using up our SS. Thank God I have some funds from sale of my home. Thanks
Hi @oregongirl - thank you. I do pray = but I have had this mystery like condition for 20 years - was just told I have fibromyalgia but the rhemu dr. did not want to see me after the diagnosis. Good luck was about it? This was at Stony Brook University Hospital which has a decent reputation.
You need to look for a new Rheumatologist then ,why did she do that to you?I'm sorry ,don't understand that
I have been let down by almost every single doctor. I have been to over 100 doctors in the 20 years this has been going on. I think here in NY there aren't enough doctors and if they can't cure you they don't want to "treat" you. I am on medicaid so they really don't care about you. You are right though, I will look for another rheumy not with that group. Thank you for that suggestion. I don't think straight after so long - you tend to give up. So thank you for your input.
My doctor prescribes a cream called ketoprofen. it has ibuprofen in it which I can't take because I take Celebrex. it feels good putting it on and it eases pain. I can't use it on my wrapped leg but I can use it on the other it's not a total cure it's not a total answer but it does help.. I'll bet there's an over the counter equivalent.
@gman007
I use Volteran gel on my hands for arthritis. I'm pretty sure it has NSAIDS. When I need it and use it, it helps.

@doxyjune I do hope the Cymbalta will help some. I live surrounded by others. Learned the hard way that staying to myself is the safest. There, at times, are things worse than being alone. Taking an extra pill to help with the pain is not weakness. At times prayer is the only thing. You have access to a computer and this can be helpful. I am 66 and have many things I would still like to be doing. The thought of having to give up our independence is daunting. Your username is familiar as are some others. I read the sadness in your words. I have some days that are better than others. I do "my" best and no longer what others see as "my" best. Some may see this as selfish...Take care. I know others in their 90's and wonder how they can do what they do being in so much pain. I started to realize because I have constant pain everyone else does not. We cannot compare ourselves to the accomplishments of others. The brain may want to do something that the body cannot-no matter how hard we push ourselves. It can be rather like a paralyzed person being able to do all they would like to do...We are not all the same.
If you all don,t know about how important Magnesium is for your body please go to Dr. Mercola.com very good article there
@oregongirl Wishing you the best at finding an apartment that will meet your needs. My apartment is adequate even though the constant noise is irksome. Was a senior complex and this has changed. Sad how others have no respect for others or the home they are renting. I am only responsible for my behavior. All apartment doors are inside and so whenever I come or go someone asks where...hard to not snap at them being so inquisitive.
