Does anyone have ringing in the ears? At times mine is so loud I can't think I don't know of any solutions,if you do I,d appreciate hearing from you.

Mine started roughly a month ago. I'm going to a functional-medicine specialist on Monday, and this will definitely be on my list of symptoms. I have very sensitive hearing (always have), and talk about annoying!!!

The PA I saw is wonderful! We talked about many things, and she has ordered several tests no other doc has ordered. Of the three results I have back, two are abnormal. (No surprise there.) I'll be returning in a month to go over all the results and start discussing treatment options (e.g., diet first and foremost). My tinnitus wasn't a focused topic of conversation, or I'd be happy to post anything I learned from our discussion. I hope everyone here is having a great Friday!

I have had ringing in my ears for the last 57 years since i was too near a Navy 5 inch gun when it went off (you've probably seen the 16 inch guns on a battleship) which is unbelievably loud. The concussion from it knocked me down and I was unable to hear anything for several hours until my hearing returned and with it...the ringing, which has only gotten louder over the years. It is quietest in the morning and loud noises and music makes it louder. My hearing began fading after I turned 60 and after I accused my wife of mumbling once too often, i went to an audiologist and got earing aids that addressed my hearing loss in the range most women speak in. They seem to help the ringing in that I can now hear better and hearing things seems to distract me from noticing the ringing, which is a fuzzy ringing. There are small sounds which I feel I could hear but they are in the same range the ringing is in, which drowns them out. The ringing is louder without my hearing aids. They are quite expensive, I might add. I hope this information helps anyone. Should someone develop a cure, I will try to be among the first to beat on their door to get it! I would give almost anything to be rid of my tinnitus! I would be happy with just the hearing I have now WITHOUT the everlasting damnable ringing.

@larryr These are old post but still relevant to tinnitus . I still have it but at a less ringing. I found out dairy products where one of the culprits I changed milk to almond milk which doesn't bother me but couldn't do cow,s milk anymore. They still ring but not as loud . Has anyone else found anything else that stopped or lessened the ringing?

Hi,
This is in response to an old thread on TINNITUS. Note that I do not endorse this product and advise anyone to read everything about it.

Last year I had a severe bout with tinnitus in my left (worst ear) to the point that it was overwhelming and distracting. My daughter who is a nurse practitioner , and has patients who use this, suggested I look up Acetyl L-Carnitine. CARNITINE is an amino acid naturally produced in the body.
Studies indicated that increasing carnitine intake may be a valuable pharmacological option in tinnitus treatment.
I tried a 30 day supply and within 3 weeks or so there was a marked reduction in intensity to the point of not hearing any noise at all to some slight noise. I finished the 30 day supply and since recently have had the usual, ignorable head noise.

About 2 months ago, the left ear acted up again to the point of interfering with sleep . I was hearing it with aids on in my noisy car. I went back to using Acetyl L-Carnitine and now, about 3 weeks later, the sound in the left ear is hardly noticeable.
I will finish the bottle of 60 tablets and hope I do not need it again for a while.

Please also note , having had tinnitus for so long I don’t even remember when it started, that I am aware of that environmental factors and food intake etc can bring on a severe attack. So this is not a discussion about that. I am only putting out what seems to be a benefit for me. I use Jarrow brand....60 tablets , one in am and one in pm....about $15...available in stores like Sprouts or Whole Foods or Medicine Shoppe. I would not use long term although some of my daughters patients (mostly seniors) swear by it and use it constantly.

The drug is used for other conditions and has side effects so be careful and perhaps consult with your doctor.

Regards from FL Mary

Hi,

I thought I responded to this but don’t see it. I am not familiar with the Bluebommet brand . I only know that Jarrow is a reputable supplier and I am familiar with the brand.

In regards to tinnitus, I too have it so long I don’t remember how or why it developed. I will try the product that was listed above, but I’d like to add an alternative to supplements. There are a few MFR techniques that address tinnitus and the ringing. Using pressure points in your ear, as well as a few other techniques that work with the various bones in the ear and the face, it can help relieve sinus issues and TMJ. I’ve tried it twice on my own, and it has worked for a short time. With MFR, my experience so far is that you need to be patient and do the exercises for several days to feel results.

As some of you have read, I have become an advocate in the use of MFR. In fact, after my 3rd session tues, today/thurs/, while in bed before getting up, laying down I did several of these ear/facial exercises , and the extreme 24/7 pain in my big toe as a result of my CRPS, has vanished!!! I’ve been pain free for 4 hrs, and counting, for the first time in I don’t know how long !!! I’m stunned and crying with relief for however long it lasts. At least I found for the first time, something that has relieved this severe pain that has affected every aspect of my life. After trying so many different types of treatments, therapies, or injections, MFR has been the first type of treatment where I have felt relief for any extended period of time since I developed CRPS in 2014 after a slip down stairs in a 2 level flat in Paris that ultimately required a lumbar fusion at the L5-S1. Hope this helps and good luck.

Hi,
It will be hot here until October. Heat index is 100 or over. We do get a cooling down with the daily T storms...now it’s in the late evening pattern. Last night thunder and lightening with a power blip at 3 am....all part of the summer pattern in FL.
Seeing a musical play tonight...granddaughter has lead in A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. She plays Zero Mostel’s part or Nathan Lane’s . Good thing I have a mute program on my aids lol ....Her last role before she goes off to college in NJ. Going to eat at Bonefish before show so I am hoping the tinnitus doesn’t start up again. Luckily my Phonaks cut out if too loud. Will see how much I can pick up with Live Transcribe app. This venue has pretty good acoustics though. I know her lines pretty much and she rehearses over my house a lot ....a lot lol. (lives across the breezeway)
Hope this Carnitine helps you....give it a minimum of 2 weeks.

Hi,
That’s great for you...happy to hear it. I know I have applied pressure to my facial muscles to relieve annoying tinnitus and it has worked temporarily. Same with applying pressure and massage to to my upper back and neck to relieve “cricks” it looks like a valuable technique.
