Please share your experience with the Volara PEP Device

Hi everyone,
Has any of you used Volara device?
Is it better than using other airways clearance methods like postural drainage, Aerobika, saline? I understand that we all respond differently, but would like to hear from people who used it.Is Volara a must have if you have bronchiectasis or “a nice have”?
What experiences did you have with it, did it early help to clear mucous more effectively?

I use the Arobica twice a day (15 min. each session) followed by huff coughs to try to cough up sputum. Recently notice my throat (swallowing saliva) and even my neck feels sore--perhaps due to my trying to unsuccessfully cough up sputum (following huff cough). So I stopped using the Volara for about 12 days and noticed my neck was not sore nor was swallowing a problem. Has anyone experienced my symptoms? Barbara

@bannef I had to stop using mine after a couple of months. The ear pressure build up was unbearable.

@rstel7272 interesting. I have old eustachian tube dysfunction in one of my ears and am very sensitive to pressure changes. I have not seen this comment before with the Volara. For me, I personally find the sterilization issues with these machines off-putting. My BE/MAC specialist doesn’t think the Volara will be particularly helpful for me due to location of my disease, so for now it is not on the table which I am fine with. But again, your experience is of particular interest to me so will keep that in my back pocket for future consideration.

I had been using the Vest for years, and my pulmonologist thought I should switch to the Volara because I have osteoporosis. I used the Volara for about 9 months, but I was really uncomfortable with the cleaning protocol and wasn't ever convinced the device was getting clean enough. I decided to stop using it. This was before I was diagnosed with M Abcessus. After consulting with my osteopath, I went back to the vest and a regular nebulizer. I never noticed any difference between the two in terms of airway clearance.

@isabelld Thank you! Very helpful.
I wish there was a possibility to sterilize the parts.
