Reflux: Is anyone else on Sucralfate?

Posted by wklapp @wklapp, Aug 26 9:36pm

Is anyone else on Sucralfate? It’s to help with ulcers etc in the lining. I’m drinking 1g 3-4x a day along with 2 Omeprazole a day and still having awful reflux. I’m post surgery 9 months. I have another endoscopy with cryogenics tomorrow.

Is it in pill or liquid form?

How is the Cryogenics? How many treatments have you done so far or it a one time procedure? Is this for cancer or for Barrett’s esophagus? Do you know if they can use it for radiation induced strictures?

I’ve had 2 treatments so far. I have another scheduled in December. If the Interventional Gastroenterologist see suspicious tissue or nodules he will freeze and biopsy. He also freezes any residual Barretts. He has dilated my pylori’s and administers a Botox injection. So far NED. This is part of the surveillance protocol.

@lovelexia92
It’s a treatment during an endoscopy.

16 yrs post surgery. My advice is to listen to your body more than your Dr when it comes to post esophagectomy quality of life. I wont get into my history but I will tell you to experiment with EVERYTHING. I have found that eating a large meal right before going to bed acts like a plug while sleeping and helps control the reflux. I would also recommend joining our twice weekly zoom calls for additional advice from fellow survivors.
