Phlegm in my throat and post nasal drip after Covid
Ever since I had covid in January of 2022 I recovered from the virus but I was left with a constant phlegm in the back of my throat and post nasal drip that will not go away. The feeling of having mucus in the back of my throat actually gets worse when I try to get rid of it by coughing. I have been given steroid inhalers, albuterol, allergy medication, but none of these work. The mucus gets worse especially after I eat. I've never felt like this before and it all started after covid. Can anybody relate to what I am going through?

@oly78 add me to the list of phlegm and mucus.
Drs don’t want to hear about anything they can’t just prescribe a pill for. I’m so tired of drs shrugging their shoulders and acting shocked when I give them my symptoms (all began with Covid). I had an endocrinologist and my pcp both tell me they see “hundreds” of patients with the same symptoms but “there’s so much they don’t understand”-then “I’m sorry I can’t help you.” But of course pay on the way out…
I’ve had no help from any dr or anyone.

My experience is very similar to many I have read. Almost 3 years ago I got Covid for 2nd time even though got vaccinated almost at the beginning of each new vaccine variant release. With this 2nd Covid infection, the experience was much more serious involving different and many more symptoms. Had terrible post nasal drip, couphing and significant phelm build up. These symtoms lasted approximately 3 months. After which the amount of post nasal drip, couphing and phlegm production significantly decreased but still was there and was random except for late night just before bed. However, the symtoms were serious enough that went and saw ENT who after I few visits diagnosed me with silent reflux. I told her it started with a Covid experience and she told me she had other patients that has similar experience and they don't know yet if this is one of the verified possible long-term Covid virus effects. Told me to take some PPI medicine. I did for about 3 to 4 months and improved enough to stop seeing her but still experienced random nightly coughs and phlegm "hackings." I decided to just lived with it. About a year ago I watch a youtube video that talked about silent reflux and how lifting the bed 6 to 8" at the front and not eating 3 hours before going to sleep helps. I did these recommendations which seem to again reduce the severity of the nightly hacking. But I couldn't get rid of it. I also notice I was belching more. Every day I may belch two to three time in row a number of times a day. Recently, I had to get a colonoscopy so I saw a Gastroenterologist (GI Doctor). I told him I had a reflux problem and he said I didn't based on the colonoscopy results but he could do some upper GI tests which could see if my esophagus is involved. He did the tests which are expensive: a combination of throat exams, pH and impedance monitoring, and specialized saliva or swallowing tests. It showed I do have Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (LPR) the "Silent Reflux. However, it also found I have small sliding hiatal hernia. I then shared my test results with my AI service and it explained what's actually involved, the foods I eat, when I eat them and how they affects the couphing and phlegm build-up. And the fact that this has happen to many people as a result of Covid affliction. And that for many a small hiatle hernia may be involved. And it explained how the hernia could be created from the Covid symtoms I experienced. It referred me to this chat site as proof that this is happening to a significant number of other people. The AI says now the best way to control this issue is discipline eating habits: right foods in small portions thoughout the day. No more regular size three meals a day with dinner as the largest. And always finish a small dinner at least 3 hours before sleep. Also, there is a nightly breathing technique with may help. Sleep on left side or back only on a bed raised at least 6 inches at head. I am now starting this routine. It even help me recreate my daily shake routine with the right foods. Can't drink over 5 ounces twice a day and never drink after approximately 4pm. This is my non medicine approach to silent reflux with small hiatle hernia. One other issue AI brought up was since I do weight lifting workouts it very important the I stay away certain routines involve heavy leg presses and couching moves.
@abdulhamid30 , I think my posts about my experience is somewhere up thread. But, after my ENT diagnosed me with long covid the nasal drainage, phlegm, congestion, etc. was horrible. I’m not sure if it was time that resolved it or the saline nasal spray I started using twice daily. My GP recommended it and I thought it was a silly idea, but tried it anyway. Surprisingly my symptoms dissipated. I continue to use the spray twice daily. Of course, everyone is different, but I like to share what worked for me.
@antonio96

I don t enjoy life anymore with this..
I am just living.
I hope we both and all effected by this get a cure.
Pray for all.
