Does anyone have short bowel syndrome?
5 years ago I had a small intestines blockage and had to have all but 2 feet of my small intestines removed. I was on TPN and a feeding tube for a couple years years now I am eat food. I am able to eat most foods except raw vegetables and high fiber foods.
Over two years ago I started having constant abdominal spasms and constant nausea, doctors don't know what is causing it. The spasms feels like someone is twisting my insides and some pressure. Nausea medications don't help with the nausea.

@tj, I keep coming back to the wording you shared from your MR enterography—“ileus or partial obstruction”—and wondering about something.
Have you had a chance to ask your GI how they interpret that finding in the context of your short bowel anatomy, and what it means for the treatment they are recommending?
This is how patients should be treated at all times by doctors. I wish I had doctors like this.
@jlharsh
GI doctor doesn't see a issue, so he doesn't want to treat my health issues. Final test showed ileus and GI doctor not treating it.
@tj, I think I understand better what you’re saying. You have a report that says “ileus or partial obstruction,” you continue to have symptoms, and your GI doesn’t consider that finding something that needs treatment. Do I have that right?

Right.
@tjanet, thank you. I’ve gone back through this discussion because I wanted to make sure I was understanding what you’ve been trying to tell us.
You’ve shared that the Xifaxan helped the nausea but not the abdominal pain, and you’ve continued to come back to the imaging that reported “ileus or partial obstruction.” Along the way, members have asked what your doctors thought of the imaging, shared their own experiences with ileus, and suggested getting another GI opinion—which you said you were looking into.
What still seems unresolved is that you continue to have symptoms and see that finding on your imaging, while your GI does not consider it something that needs treatment.
I wonder if, in trying to help, we’ve been offering answers without quite getting to what you need from us.
What would you most like to see happen next? What are you hoping we might be able to help you with here?
I am waiting for a referral to get a nerve block in my spine to see if that helps my constant abdominal pain. Seeing a pain doctor now.
