Does anyone have short bowel syndrome?

Posted by tj @tjanet, Jan 28, 2024

5 years ago I had a small intestines blockage and had to have all but 2 feet of my small intestines removed. I was on TPN and a feeding tube for a couple years years now I am eat food. I am able to eat most foods except raw vegetables and high fiber foods.
Over two years ago I started having constant abdominal spasms and constant nausea, doctors don't know what is causing it. The spasms feels like someone is twisting my insides and some pressure. Nausea medications don't help with the nausea.

Hi, I don't have short bowel troubles, but I had four abdominal surgeries in two years, and that left me with A LOT of scar tissue. I've found working with a physical therapist has helped so much, she is trained exclusively in scar tissue break up....helps me with the nausea that I occasionally have...

My constant abdominal pain isn't from scar tissue.

I have seen a PT. My constant abdominal pain isn't from scar tissue. PT didn't help my constant abdominal pain.

I don't have very good family support for my health issues. My family doesn't seem to care about my health issues. I suffer all the time with my Short Bowel Syndrome symptoms. I have constant deep inside upper left abdominal pain and doctors don't seem to care.

Are you seeing a gastroenterologist or just a GP I wonder.A Gastro.can order scans or do a colonoscopy. It sounds like you may have Diverticularitis.

I see a GI doctor. It's not Diverticulitis. My upper abdominal pain is because of my Short Bowel Syndrome symptoms. My GI doctor doesn't specialize in Short Bowel Syndrome. The abdominal pain is deep inside my upper abdomen not my large intestines.

@tjanet I wonder would it be a swollen spleen. I would not dream of getting rid of your spleen if that was ever suggested as it helps infections but there is treatment for a swollen spleen.

Scans show that my spleen is good.

I have had several scans done and the radiologist said that the scans were good but the radiologist doesn't specialize in Short Bowel Syndrome. My GI doctor also doesn't specialize in Short Bowel Syndrome.

I continue to suffer all the time with constant upper left abdominal pain because of my short bowel syndrome condition/symptoms. My GI doctor isn't treating my short bowel syndrome symptoms so my symptoms are getting worse. My GI doctor doesn't seem to care that I suffer all the time with constant upper left abdominal pain. I don't sleep much at night because of abdominal pain.
