This is my new way of life!

Hello

I am new to this. I want to help myself so that I can help others. This New way of life (NWOL) is not going to be easy. As an old drill sergeant said to me one time though. "Anything worth having doesn't come easy". Let's take care of ourselves and keep on living. L.I.V.I.N.
It's time to get serious about life.
I believe in you, me.
I love you, me.
I need you, me.
We matter, I.

I read your post and I read your profile. I’m not sure what you’re looking for so I feel you need to provide us with some specifics that you need help with if that’s your purpose. You might consider reading a bunch of people’s posts to get the idea. I’d like to offer you some help but with what?

I don't know what type of help you could offer. I am willing to accept whatever help I can get today.

You need to be more explicit as to what kind of advice you’re looking for. Is it about life in general or has the aging process caught up with you and you’re not pleased about it? I’m just throwing out ideas to stir your gray cells. I see you had a heart attack for the first time. So I’m guessing you’re now taking a bunch of meds, new diet restrictions, cardiac rehab if available, etc. A new way of life hopefully.

Hopefully I am seeing a cardiologist sometime this week. My diet has changed and not on any meds yet. No rehab.
I am in my mid 40's.
No insurance because I have lived life like a gypsy.

@newwayoflife yea when we do some things in life that we thought would serve us well and eventually we learn that was not the case at all. I hope you’re not kicking yourself we all make mistakes. After all we didn’t have a handbook by which to guide us. Not having insurance will be tough on you and costly. I’m guessing you never paid into social security system to now receive the benefits of Medicare and social security retirement payments?

Are you newly sober? Just curious as your post sounds like you are newly sober.

I am not newly sober/clean.
It's been 10 years from meth, cocaine, acid, and pain pills.
I am newly off cigarettes, caffeine, marijuana, and I would have a drink once every two weeks.
I have 19 days today from all that.

I have 37 years sober and read your post with interest. You may not want to hear this, but here goes:
Stopping multiple addictions is a recipe for disaster. My recommendation would be to stop alcohol and marjuana first. I would become very solid in that sobriety before attempting cigarettes.
Find a support group. 12 step groups are free - you don't need to put a dollar in the basket. If you don't like one, try another. You can find groups online, although my strong preference is in person groups. Find a closed mouthed friend in those groups (aka, a sponsor) and work with them. It's all free.
Meth, etc., are hard to kick so my hat is off to you.

Thank you and yes I attend the 12 steps. I do in person and online.
I have 20 honest days today. It wasn't hard for me to quick because I thought I was going to die. I understand that if I use, I will die. No exceptions.
I have found someone to talk to and he is very private and no loose lips. I have know him for about 5 years and I talk with him about things that I would not tell anyone.
Just worried about asking him to sponsor me. I don't like putting labels on things. I appreciate your advice/suggestion and will consider getting even more uncomfortable and may just ask this man to help me through the steps.
Congratulations on 37 years. To me you all with time are the most important people. Because if it wasn't for you all where would the new comer be. Lost in my opinion.
Thank you
