Doctor’s response

This was the response from the neurologist was asked if this could be long Covid-
There are no bio- markers for Long Covid and interventions are of limited efficacy.

Then I found this-
“Testing to identify Long Covid biomarkers are still largely confined to research settings and clinical trials rather than everyday doctor office diagnostics.
Healthcare providers typically diagnose Long COVID based on clinical history and symptom evaluation rather than a specific lab test. “

Hi, I live in Chapel Hill. Besides giving you a diagnosis, have you found a physician at Duke who was helpful in offering treatment options? I was diagnosed and seen at UNC Long Covid Clinic which has been shuttered.

My symptoms didn't start easing up until last year. That's 6 years now.In 2020,I was so sick I don't remember the first 6 months back to work, nothing. Then the nightmare started.I just knew that whatever this covid deal was,it wasn't like anyone's that I had heard of.Got desperate.Found a Dr online.Best thing ever.Great guy.The real deal. Now I'm virtually symptom free.I did catch several other things along the way.Which got resolved.I'm at the tail end of this thing.THANK YOU FATHER.

@arbk68 , sorry they closed that department. I like UNC and my endocrinologist is there. I’ve been with them a long time.

I can’t say the ENT doctor offered me any treatment. He monitored my progress. I can’t recall anything he prescribed. I did scent training on my own. I’m not sure if that helped my smell, but my follow up testing was remarkably improved, so he was impressed. I went from terrible loss to about 6 months later to good smell score. It’s tested by smell sample identification in booklets. I did continue with the terrible metallic, turned bitter, turned salty taste for years! In 2026 it improved…..gradually…..now there are days when I barely think about it! I am so grateful! I have no idea why it’s improving. I am not certain what caused it, but ENT felt the timing of my symptom onset matched with post covid. Oh, I also had covid toe, twice.

The Neurologist I saw has moved out west and no longer there, but he was only able to recommend I take B12 sublingual supplements, because he also diagnosed me with B12 deficiency. They weren’t sure which of my symptoms were due to long covid or B12 deficiency. They just popped up at the same time, along with the other symptoms I listed upthread.

I’m not aware of any covid trials where a specific med or treatment is provided. Good luck though! Please post what you find out.
Have you checked with Mayo?
I’m providing a link for Wake Med. Hopefully, it’s ok to post it. If it’s removed, let me know and I’ll PM you.
