Is anyone else suffering from excessive phlegm? I feel like im drownin

I have been suffering daily, for months, with uncontrolled coughing and I feel like I'm drowning. Currently on oxygen 24/7 set at 3. I take trelegy and occasionally use my rescue inhaler. I also take mucus relief 400 mg, 3 tablets twice a day. The Pulmonogist has started me on Roflumilast, at first 500 mcg every day. Because of stomach problems now 250 mcg every other day.

I have emphysema . It causes a lot of phlegm . But a lot of phlegm is caused by diet . Food can affect your phlegm production . It can , from your stomach and the digestive acids you produce after some foods, send physical “fogs” and signals to your throat . It can be hard to tell which may have the most effect. Possibly a dietitian could help . Just my thoughts , Crystalena

@crystalena my pulmonologist just prescribed me Chest Congestion 100mg /5l cough syrup. It’s guefenisin for much. Seems like it worked immediately. I’ll let you all know more in a couple days.

@tjphillipp Good to know there is a syrup. Maximum Strength Mucinex (SE): Contains 1,200 mg of guafenisin as well.

Suffered from mucus for years it's miserable an at times quite scary when it plugs your throat and can't get it out. Hours every day of my life are spent coughing up mucus. Dr. have not been much help they usually order antibiotics and prednisone. Trilogy is used daily and a couple other things. Mucus pretty much controls my life.

@char45 I am sorry to hear about this . I have more phlegm as this disease progresses. Have you altered any of your diet to try to help it ?

@crystalena yes it’s with it. I think it may do something similar to a Voldyne 4000 lung excersise machine

@char45 Have you heard of the Air Physio ? A breathing piece that is supposed to tremble your airway to loosen phlegm. No meds no mists . Just an item you breathe thru .

@crystalena I’m now happy to report that the prescription medicine called Chest Congestion 100mg/5l has been working very well for me . It’s a syrup taken 3 times a day. I still take 10mg of Prednisone and use my ipratropium albuterol nebulizer a few times a day.
