Just An Update on HG Serous Ovarian Cancer

Just to let everyone know that the cancer has returned yet again. I had a PET scan last week after three months, and it has returned with a vengeance, both in the abdomen and possibly the chest cavity.
I am having a FNA biopsy under ultrasound tomorrow of a lymph node near my left clavicle to see what it is. I’m told that ovarian cancer does not usually spread that far, but that I have never followed the rules.
I’m going to be commencing chemotherapy for the ninth time soon. The dates have not been organised yet; my oncologist wants to find out the results of the biopsy. I’m also dealing with sarcoidosis which has made life a little more interesting.
I’m also up to the next drug, Gemcitabine is its name in Australia. There are several protocols for its use, and I don’t know which I will be using.
Something else that is of note- I have been asked to contribute my story at an Oncology Conference in November, which I am excited about.
I’m sorry that the cancer is back yet again. It’s not unexpected. I’m now ready to face whatever comes. When I was told of the results my oncologist said it’s very concerning, but also said that for the last 15 years I haven’t just done well, I have been exceptional!
With God’s blessing I hope to stay that way.
These daffodils were a gift from the girls in my Year 12 Chemistry class. They gave them to me on Daffodil Day with a very special card that they each signed with a personal message.

When the nurses were having difficulty finding my veins, I asked for a port-a-cath. I’ve recently had it replaced with a new one after 10 years. They are great! The downside is that when you aren’t on treatment, they need to be flushed every 6-7 weeks.
Ask about getting one.

Jenelleseaman It's September 5. 2026. How are you getting on at this stage of your treatments. I pray for you, every day. I begin 3 rounds of vaginal radiation on September 15 in Mineola, NY. Perlmutter Cancer Center. I've completed 6 rounds of TAXOL/Carboplatin. Completely bald and hairless. Sending my love and best wishes to you. Love, Linda

I had a PET scan in July that showed the topotecan had stopped working. The cancer had grown through my treatment, and new sites had appeared.
The oncologist told me that I should have a break for about a month and then start chemotherapy again with another drug. This time it’s gemcitabine. I start this Friday. Gemcitabine is a 4 week cycle, with 3 weeks treatment and then a week off. I’ve planned to start this week so I can have a week off for Christmas!
This is the tenth treatment, and will take me through to March 2027, at the very least … unless the cancer doesn’t respond! I’m in God’s hands.
Keytruda is now subsidised by the Australian government, and a newspaper journalist wanted to interview someone who had lived with ovarian cancer. They asked me if I was prepared to be interviewed. So I was in the newsfeed last weekend in Australia. A small moment of fame!

I had a PET scan in July that showed the topotecan had stopped working. The cancer had grown through my treatment, and new sites had appeared.

I’m starting the tenth line treatment this Friday. I had topotecan for the first part of 2026, but a PET scan in July showed the cancer stopped responding, and started growing instead. I’ve had a compulsory break and now am going to try gemcitabine.
I’ve recently celebrated my 16th anniversary with ovarian cancer as well! I can hardly believe it. The hospital where I get treated is almost a second home!

@jenelleseaman Sounds like they're giving you beyond excellent care. I've never read of any one else having 10 treatments and 16 years of success. Praying your success continues. Also, by the way, very cute kids!

@jenelleseaman You're the most tenacious, bravest, courageous, determined, woman I've ever known. With your courage, I know that there has been suffering, pain, and moments of sadness and fear. But you've kept on going and demonstrating how strong your will to live has been all these years. You have purpose in your life. You're an educator and you love your career. And you have a strong faith in God. I think that you may be famous one day and that you'll be in the Medical journals helping countless scientists, oncologists, pharmacists, surgeons, nurses, and especially woman who are patients under the expert care of oncological surgeons. Woman who are afraid, unable to understand all the what's, how's, whys, when and ifs of this disease and because there's so much unknown and unseen by the human eye or a CT scan when these microscopic cells of serous carcinoma start multiplying rapidly, how do we know what decisions to agree to in this game of taking chances? Your very long survival has shown a pathway for researchers, scientists, and oncologists or patients like you with specific mutations and DNA. I would love to know more about your 15 minutes of fame!! Was this Journalist a free lance writer or was he writing for Keytruda? I know nothing about Keytruda even though in New York we see commercials on TV for it. I wanted to come onto the Mayo forum tonight so other people can learn from you. Did you have a ctDNA liquid biopsy? After I do my 3 rounds of radiation on September 15, 21, and 29, my oncologist will order a lab test on the 4 cm endometrial tumor being stored in the lab at NYU Langone's hospital in Mineola, NY, and have a DNA analysis done on it. I'm not sure I'm eligible for all options. M famous oncologist/surgeon told me a few weeks ago that after chemo and radiation that I'll be in God's hands. I don't think he realized I'm looking for God to lead me to a cure!! I'm 76 and was diagnosed with early Stage I a, but due to serous carcinoma p53, it was immediately upped to Stage II cm. As I do very day, I send you my heartfelt loving kindness, best wishes, and pray for you. Keep up your strength and energy. Conserve your energy when you feel fatigued. God Bless you!!!
