Finding Joy

Where do you find joy while caregiving for your LO who suffers from dementia? How do you manage the resentment and frustration? I’m having a hard time seeing an exit.

@grandmajoan Yes please pray for all of us. And a special prayer that I can get my house sold quickly - and clear out all the stuff - so I can just get both my husband, and I situated and calmly grounded.

When I moved and sold, I paid for a lot of help and sold as quickly as I could without focusing on the costs or price. It got it done fast and was worth every $10,000!

Thanks, I just have to get all the stuff out of storage and sort through it. 7 storage facilties that ended up geting all the stuff even the stuff that should have been thrown away. we had to move out quickly. Yes help is definitely what I need.

My therapist asked me to write down all the things that would ease my stress (even if they may not happen). It actually helped, and it moved me along to hire someone to categorize our basement full of my husband's tools, machinery, etc. Just decades full of the stuff of life. That task had been overwhelming me, and like @bftennis stated, so worth the money.

What is best for you guys? To tell my wife of an upcoming appointment when the date and time is set(might be 30 days off) or wait till the day before? She seems to worry more if I tell her too soon and just accepts it if i tell her the day before. hate keeping anything from her but there it is...

Hi there, it depends on what stage she is in. (For our mother, we have to just tell her things last minute. But that’s because she forgets minute to minute.)
Posting here is a good way to share with other people dealing with partners with dementia.

I totally respect and understand your desire to inform her, but if it causes more stress than it’s worth, you may want to think twice. Whatever’s the path of least resistance. 🤗❤️
