Grover's Disease: What works to help find relief?

Posted by 43219876x @43219876x, Sep 23, 2016

I have been diagnosed with Grover's disease under my breasts. I had a biopsy for diagnosis. Tried topical ointment with no really good results. Any ideas?

I too, get Grovers Disease between my breasts. I find Tea Tree & Witch Hazel solid cream stick very effective, showing immediate results after each application. Keep fresh, wear freshly laundered underwear and nightwear every day, removing body oils and sweat which may contain elements of the disease. Then apply the solid Bblemish Stick. Results are amazing.

I looked up the Whole30 diet and it sure couldn't hurt. It's basically an extreme eczema diet, except with Karen Fischer's Eczema Diet plan (she seems to be the eczema guru) she will allow gluten free grains like quinoa, rice and others. She bases the gluten issues on a leaking gut, in which the undigested gluten in the intestine passes through the cell walls and into the bloodstream. This gluten is seen by our immune system as a poison and so it raises our histamine levels to try to kill it off these histamines, inadvertently raising our histamine levels to an inflammatory level. Karen also allows certain 'safe fruits', so some natural sugars are allowed if this fruit doesn't contain high levels of offending elements which she outlines. Karen's main focus is on the Atopic form of eczema, but this probably includes all forms. The Whole 30 diet would be seriously hard to maintain. With the KF diet I pick and choose, starting in baby steps until I noticed any difference. I have reduced gluten by 90% and have cut out aggravating fruits: grapes, citrus, stone fruits, berries, pineapple and others, but I eat lots of the safe others. I gave up all alcohol 2 1/2 years ago out of desperation from health issues, but substituted it with sugar, which previously held no interest to me. Giving up sugar is a killer, this will be a desperate act of last resort and still indulge desserts- a real no no, but since I symptom free now am not dedicated to" fixing what isn't broken."

@gardeningjunkie I'm wondering how long it was after giving up alcohol that you noticed a difference.

I was desparate and forced to try multiple things at the same time trying to get all my forms of eczema under control. I gave up alcohol about the same time I gave up processed sugar. I read the simple book by William Crook, Md, The Yeast Connection Handbook, which explained how yeast affects our health by raising our inflamtion. He has a more brutal detox but a simpler lifetime plan to follow than the Karen Fischer plan. Her plan was too complicated for me. Both the Crook and Fishcher plans are for a lifetime. My internal infamation from out of control histamines improved greatly within 2 months with no alcohol or processed sugars (Crook detox). I no longer had my internal under the skin stinging and continual taser like shocks inside my skin. Even when my GD was dormant or in areas never affected by GD I had these sensations 24/7. I've yet blogged with someone who experienced symtoms that severe. What helped these sensation was my annual corticosteroid injection of Kenalog 40 which my derm only allowed once a year. This shot would control these internal sensations for about 8 months but did nothing for my GD. My annual shot was due about 2 months after I started my detox but for the first time in several years I didn't need this steroid injection. The internal sensations had gone away and now 8 years later are still gone. Still, even with no alcohol or processed sugar I started a very mild early GD breakout about 4 months after starting my sugar and alcohol detox. At that time on a Mayo GD site in Feb 2019 I read a post by Kimass1 about cilantro giving some GD sufferers relief. I experimented with cilantro along with several other bloggers following this discussion and about 35-40% of us were able to put our GD into remission. This mild outbreak was clearly going dormant about 4 weeks after daily cilantro smoothies even though the inactive papuales, not itching or painful, didn't fall off for over 6 months.
Since then I have never had another GD outbreak. No internal histamine inflamation. No steroid injections. I will never drink alcohol again and don't miss it other than missing the buzz at parties. On holidays I allow myself a dessert with processed sugar, but now eat all the fruit I want. It's taken years not to crave processed sugar. I missed the evening coctail habit for 3 weeks. I still have Allergic Contact Dermatitis ACD and will for life. But because of the testing I know what to avoid and have not had an ezcema outbreak anywhere on my body.
