What brought you joy today?

If you've been living with cancer for a while, you know it's not all gloom and doom. Where did you find joy today? I'll start:

1. Working in my garden.
2. Meeting my daughter for tea.
3. Home-made pizza for dinner.
4. My spouse (always).
5. Some interesting online discussions.
6. Rereading a good novel.

After two months of physical therapy to address a groin injury suffered during an ice speeding race in Chicago on Valentine’s Day, I got back on my rollerblades. I tried to skate in June and the pain was intense so I figured my 68 yrs old body wasn’t up to the task and I was done with rollers forever.
But today I skated effortlessly.

I donated platelets on Wednesday afternoon something I do every 2 weeks to help the sick recover from trauma, surgeries and cancer patients! That really brings me joy! It’s one of the best things I’ve done in my life to give back.

@zenren14 So you're the one. STOP SPEEDING UP!

(Just joking 😉. Stay strong, stay joyful, and ignore the drum jokes.)

It's September, so I'm finding joy in preserving seeds from my garden for next season and sorting them into little paper envelopes.

It's also an act of affirmation: I *will* be here next spring to plant them. I'm starting to learn not to say "if".

It's my birthday! 72, living comfortably with Lynch Syndrome. I've survived colon cancer, multiple skin cancers, and just recently finished BCG treatment for bladder cancer. I'm so very happily married for just over a year! We have a home we love. Flowers, animals, and sunshine bring us joy. Life is great!

We just bought tickets to an equestrian event in Olympic 2028. The same thought crossed my mind that I will be here to watch!

@myoga Excellent!

Yes, especially with advanced-stage cancer, we have the irrational thought that we're either jinxing things or being naïve by making long-term plans.

But next month will be the 5-year anniversary of my diagnosis with de-novo stage-4b prostate cancer (spread to my spine). Eventually we just have to accept that nothing's ever certain anyway, and get on with life.
