@trach Hello. I have had a trach for the last six years. I did try the Stoma Stent Plug---clear plastic plug (resembles a kids swimming pool plug) without the tube elongation. The mucus was still there and plenty of it. It was very uncomfortable to wear, with mucus seemingly stuck behind the stent. Yes, I suctioned it out, but it was more constant since the tube was gone which held some of the biological material. Also, putting it on was difficult and extremely painful. After spending over $100 to purchase one, I couldn't wait to put my trach tube back in. It was like putting a favorite hat back on in the cold! Maybe we are not talking about the same thing, or maybe I did something wrong. This was approximately four years ago.

@lizzieqmention sounds like something that could offer benefits or insight to others that have and are attempting to manage with the Hood stoma stent. Great idea. Am open to fielding any inquiries that may exist. Hope all is well with you.

@lizzieqmention Hello. Sure. Sounds like it is a way to learn from others with tracheostomies. There are a few on here, but over the years, I have only encountered a few. Thanks for the invitation and I hope all is well!

@thomason, @trach
Thank you! 😊 That’s exactly what I’m hoping to create—a place specifically for people who use the Hood stoma stent to share experiences, tips, and support. Do you all know any other Hood stoma stent users who may be interested in joining? Also, would you all be interested in being a moderator for the group?

@lizzieqmention Hi. I would do it and would rely on information from internet searches since I have little experience with the Stoma Stent Hood...other than negative. Would you have other moderators that may be more informed?

@thomason Thank you for being honest. I don’t have any other moderators who are more informed about the Stoma Stent Hood, but it’s okay. I completely understand. I appreciate you being willing to help and not wanting to give out information you’re unsure about.
