Considering Histotripsy

I have Stage IV cancer in the transverse colon, liver, and slightly in the lungs. Today finished 10/12 infusion cycles. CEA has gone from 280 in February to 8 in today's blood test. Tumors are much reduced. The main concern is the liver. I had several consultations at Barnes and decided that their proposed treatment was too demanding for this 80 year old. I am considering histotripsy.

Extensive bloodwork is scheduled for the 25th and a meeting with my regular oncologist.

The histotripsy is on for the 31st at Rush, Chicago, under Dr. Jordan Tasse.

I met with Dr. Tasse, Rush Medical Center, Chicago, this morning for a histotripsy evaluation. He is impressive and very personable. I am scheduled for the histotripsy procedure on 31 August 2026.

@ap47, I hope the histotripsy went well on Monday. I'm sure they told you this, staying hydrated and rest are best for recovery. Thinking of you.

Hi Colleen,

All went according to plan at Rush. Dr. Tasse and his staff when out of their way to make me comfortable and paid attention to detail. No side effects worth mentioning. I will have a CT scan in three months and a teleconference with Tasse shortly thereafter. The scan will be at my local hospital, not at Rush, which is some 180 miles away from home. Convenient.
