Treatments for Osteoporosis

Posted by loadedwithlead1 @loadedwithlead1, Aug 9 11:19am

I recently saw an endocrinologist. He said
There are 2 treatments for osteoporosis, Fosamax and
Reclast. Which do you want? He pointed to a door and said That is the way to the infusion room. It is convenient.
He also inquired into the status of recent dental work. That concluded the meetimg. I have since wondered whether this was normal. I am aware that there are many more treaatments for osteoporosis. Should I go ahead? Or pause?

Thank you for this information about the HOUN testing. I found a piece of clinical research and I am posting it below. Makes me wonder why dexa is still considered the "gold standard"

@gravity3 I agree. I was so shocked to find out there was a Different standard that I’ve never heard of. And my primary doctor had never heard of it. I was supposed to have spinal Surgery last year and decided to get another opinion and I’m so glad I did. There is a real possibility that the screws wouldn’t have held in my back.

My advice would be educate yourself very quickly, first up would be reading Dr Keith McCormick’s book called Great Bones, get past the scientific info if you’re not as into that but there is a ton of info in that book about medications, etc that may help you. Maybe find another doctor who is better versed in ALL the treatments, because there are more than just those two, and depending on your particular situation it is vital that you are better informed.
