Treatments for Osteoporosis
I recently saw an endocrinologist. He said
There are 2 treatments for osteoporosis, Fosamax and
Reclast. Which do you want? He pointed to a door and said That is the way to the infusion room. It is convenient.
He also inquired into the status of recent dental work. That concluded the meetimg. I have since wondered whether this was normal. I am aware that there are many more treaatments for osteoporosis. Should I go ahead? Or pause?

Please consider buying or having your library purchase a comprehensive book researched and written by Keith McCormick, DC entitled 'Great Bones.' Extensively annotated. You can find discussions about this practitioners here on Mayo Connect.
The author learned about osteoporosis personally after fracturing and being dx'ed while performing as an Olympic class athlete. That motivation and thoroughness is difficult to duplicate by other practitioners, who too often consider info from pharma reps to be their main form of continuing education.

2 Reactions@rjd I use that book often; haven't gotten through it in its entirety but I refer to it a lot since the information about all the nuances of osteoporosis isn't offered at the doctor's office. I feel that a lot of people like McCormick has done a lot more research on osteoporosis than any so-called osteoporosis doctor since the doctors that treat osteoporosis treat a lot of other conditions; how much time to they actually have to concentrate on osteoporosis only? Still looking for an only osteoporosis specialist, clinic, etc. in my area.

2 Reactions@gravity3 thanks you are always a wealth of info...have used Melio guide and recently checked more fully Osteo Boston; am now on the mailing list. My biggest frustration with a health problem is the lack of information that should come from the doctors. When you are told you have severe osteoporosis there should be some education beyond "don't fall down, don't twist, don't shovel snow (been doing that all my life) and remove rugs (?).

I’m considering buying another copy of Great Bones and giving it to my doctor; but I’m hesitant in how to do that because I don’t want to appear demanding or creepy. He's just out of residency and I think open to ideas.
