New to menopause and have lots of questions

Posted by bgp1976 @bgp1976, 11 hours ago

Hi everyone, I'm a 50 year old woman and I believe I am perimenopausal as I have not had a period in 4 months and I am experiencing lots of different symptoms. I have lots of questions and I am in search of help and advice. Thanks in advance for your input.
Currently, I have been experiencing hot flashes, cold feet, tired legs, fatigue, night sweats, reduce appetite, sensitivity to hot water where it feels hotter than it is, no sex drive, insomnia, anxiety and dry mouth. I've been to my PCP and have had blood work to show low estrogen levels. I have been prescribed Prempro and I am starting my 4th week of treatment. There has been some improvement with some of the symptoms, but my biggest issue now is I can't get a good night sleep. I have tried trazadone for approximately 5 days but didn't help much. I would sleep for an hour or so and then wake up. I have also tried Magnesium Glycinate, off and on but with no real results. I have had to take time off from work because I can't sleep. I would appreciate any ideas. What have you done to help with these symptoms and how successful have you been at managing them? Thanks again for your help!

Hi. How many mg of the magnesium are you taking? My progesterone only makes me sleepy 50% of the time so my doctor prescribed me 1mg of Lunesta. I didnt like trazadone. Have you gotten a hold of Dr Mary Claire Harvers book - the new menopause ? I found it very helpful as well as podcast on Spotify. The Dr. Brighton Show, Unpaused, Mel Robbins
