Need info on a place to stay for free or low cost at Mayo Clinic

Already on our way to the Mayo clinic and we have no money and no where to go and I was just wondering if anybody knew who I should contact I've tried all them like marinate houses serenity House all them houses and they don't have no rooms so does anybody else have any ideas on what I should do

I am a Cancer patient at Mayo having surgery at the RMB room Mary Bligh bldg on the 24th of July. I am trying hard to find close Free lodging possibly my caretaker for myself. Won't have my car and being dropped off. I am 77 yrs old and cannot afford lodging a day or two before..I have tried Hope Lodge, Philoxenia (is full). i dont know where to try. Please help? Linda A. Johnson

Hands of Compassion (HOC) is a non-profit, charitable organization that provides short-term housing accommodations to Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN) patients and their caregivers. The Hands of Compassion is a Christian ministry that welcomes people of all faiths/beliefs.

Yes, it is stressful since my health has always been good. I have Oral Cancer on left side lower jawbone, tissue and lymph node. I have been really stressed trying to find free lodging. I did call the Concierge and they gave me a list. I haven't had any success. I will try it again, thanks for your help. Linda

I so sad reading these stories , how patients have to go out of state for treatment What does that tell us abut our health care system, it is broken, Unless you find free housing or can afford housing your options are limited for your survival.

The Hope Lodge maybe a solution. Contact Mayo for resources. I am n ot able to send the phone number. We have stayed at the lodge in the St Paul area. It is amazing. I know that the Hope Lodge in Rochester is busier. You would need a referral for your first stay, but after that, you can call in your reservation yourself. The Rochester site may have different rules. If you have any questions about this area, do not hesitate to ask. I live about 30 minutes from Rochester. You are in good hands at Mayo.
