Nausea won't go away. How do I manage this?
I returned from Italy last August and was hospitalized for a colon infection. I never really got over colon issues (loose stools and diarrhea. I was hospitalized again for severe nausea. (No vomiting) and then 7 months later, hospitalized for severe nausea. First endoscopy showed I had two ulcers and the latest was gastritis. I have chosen to see a new Gastro doc since my current gastro doc cannot figure out whats going on. I have an emptying study tomorrow and waiting for yet another endoscopy to be scheduled once a camera comes in that will be attached to my esophagus. Phenergan has helped a tiny bit. I am hungry now but I can't seem to kick the nausea. Is there anything else I can ask my new doc about? He mentioned gastroparesis which is why we are doing these tests. Anyone have any suggestions or woyldnt mind sharing their nausea stories and gopefully gow you got back to normal? Thanks so much.

My husband has had chronic nausea for over a year now. He has had all the test and also the empty test. Everything has cutback ok. He suffers every day and has tried all meds. No one seems to be able to help him. I don’t know what to do to help with this

1 ReactionI'm so sorry. I know he has to be miserable...I sure know how he feels. I hope they can find out whats going on with your husband. It's a terrible quality of life. Are they planning on more tests or changing/adding meds? Please keeping me posted on his journey and recovery. I hope they figure it out soon.
I think a lot of us deal with this, especially in and post PEM crash…
Please keep us updated on treatments/progress!
Per my doc, long Covid can cause serious dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system. It has also been documented to cause gut-brain miscommunication, and intensive inflammation…all of which can contribute to nausea. Vagus nerve impairment has happened in quite a few of us long haulers… along with abnormal serotonin levels. And Covid in particular affected our ace receptors, which are all over the lining of our stomachs. Try to find yourself a doctor who knows about long Covid or can get in touch with a long Covid specialist for you because all or any of the above could be causing nausea.
@vostie thanks so much for this information.
