Anyone reversed osteoporosis without medication?
Hello. I am 39 and last year I got diagnosed with osteoporosis due to breastfeeding and pregnancy. i did all the tests nothing else was found as the root cause. It’s one lt the unexplained ones. During the last year, i did resistance exercises and tried to get enough calcium and vitamin D. My spine z score improved from -3.1 to 2.7, T score didn’t improve ( at least when they rounded to one digit) but hip got worse from -2.5 to -2.6.
I am now thinking if i should start medication. But given my age my doctor suggests i wait for another year to see if it can improve. I am so scared, i have a toddler. I am thinking what if i break my back or hip and get disabled because of broken hip. Who would look after my child.
Just wanted you to hear if anyone was able to reverse osteoporosis without medication? Or anyone you know in person. That I can trust that’s possible.

Has your PTH levels been checked? I'm assuming that your doc has done that, but just thoughtI'd ask, since my first doc didn't order that test. I had parathyroid tumor, which caused low absorption of calcium, and hence my osteoporosis. After the removal of the tumor, I tried a year of exercise (mostly treadmill). My spine got better, my hip stayed the same, and my femoral neck got worse. Your situation is different, tho; my osteoporosis was severe. Don't want to discourage you. Also, I think generally it takes two years to see a difference. Others can weigh in on this.

3 ReactionsI was diagnosed in 2018 with Osteoporosis in the femoral neck (-2.8) in 2020 when I was retested it was -2.8 in 2023. I was retested it was -2.9 and then 2025. It was -2.8. I would stick with your strength training and make sure you get enough calcium and vitamin D. I also joined Osteostrong and have been doing that for three + years.

1 ReactionI am starting AlgaeCal bone supplements which seem to have excellent results along with PT for femur neck and hip. I walk 5000 steps three times a week and will increase that as weather permits…I feel the reclast and other meds are too risky
Has anyone tried Optimum Shilajit™ Bone Restore Formula and does it work
@vmcgrantham you might want to google it by asking if it is legit. There was a lot of info on it.
