Any non fracture members?
I guess I’m just looking for some encouraging words. I was diagnosed in February and still working through the different stages of grief/loss. I seem to have more days stuck in depression/sadness.
So, was just wondering if anyone on here has dealt with OP for quite a while and hasn’t fractured? I know you can fracture even if your scores are osteopenia range. I feel like everyday I’m just waiting for a fracture to happen. Im exercising 6 days a week and watching my food intake. I’m just hoping as time goes on this feeling lessens. Sometimes I’m not sure if it’s the diagnosis that’s making me sad or just the fact that I’m getting older, I’m 60, and reality has finally set in.

@researchmaven Thanks so much for that information…I certainly appreciate your sharing that with me. I will do some research on it, as all the other drugs they’re pushing sound terrible. I know not everyone gets the side effects, but those that do are really suffering. Take care

2 Reactions@jozer, it's crazy.
@samclembeau appointment on Thursday…will certainly ask but he feels a yearly dexa is unnecessary as he said my CTX number shows my med is working. Would sure like to see my t scores after a year of reclast.
@yds I have had 2 REMs scans since starting on Tymlos in Sept. 2025. The first REMs scan gave a -3.3 lumbar reading in February after almost 5 months of Tymlos. Then in August I had another REMs scan with a -3.5 lumbar reading, despite a rise in P1NP from 97 to 157. Even my trabecular bone health worsened slightly between REMs scans. DEXA is useless for me as my entire spine has suffered injuries and deterioration. I had bilateral hip replacements in 2017, but years prior to that surgery I already had osteopenia and took no meds or vitamins to correct. So what to believe? Is Tymlos working based on good blood markers or do I believe the REMs technology?

1 Reactionwillowmena,
personally, I trust the bone markers. My suspicion is that you'll see improvement on the next Rems. I read that it is important to complete the two years of Tymlos. My thinking is that because Tymlos works carefully, removing older fissured bone, and replacing lost collagenous structure before adding bone mineral, the density or mineral content is added more slowly.
You might consider the biomechanical CT for your next scan https://ondiagnostics.com/
Medicare will begin paying for this scan in lieu of the dexa this October.

6 ReactionsI have never had an osteoporosis fracture. I’ve been on Tymlos for 1 year and just had my Dexa yesterday. My lumbar increased 13.6%, from -2.9 to -2.2 and my hips also increased. Don’t have the # in front of me need to print out. My TBS increased..050. My #’s adjusted for degraded TBS is -3.0 for lumber, so still osteoporosis. I also weight train and take supplements.
I was ecstatic because I take PPI’s for hiatal hernia and GERD and I have Hashimoto’s thyroid.
I had a rocky start with the Tymlos, feeling fatigued for several months and only took 4 clicks( 1/2 the dose on the pen) for about 6 months. After a non responding pn1p I attempted to increase dose but was only able to get up to 7 clicks and now no more side effects. Hope this helps. I have also been sad about it and struggling with thoughts of mortality. I will be 70 in December. That will be a milestone as my mom passed at 69. Started the Tymlos at 68. Hope this helps! 🤗

3 Reactions@gently , thank you. I just saved the link. I have never had a fracture from Osteoporosis but have fractured/broken my Metatarsal bone in my left foot years ago that never healed properly and now I have osteoporosis on that left foot as well as my hip and spine. I am age 64 and trying my best to eat more protein, take supplements and vitamins and do strength training. I hope I can go back to Osteopenia.
