Has anyone used the Marodyne device to stimulate bone growth?
You stand on it twice a day for 10 minutes. It gently vibrates and also helps with improving balance. The Marodyne is made in Germany and costs about $3,000. It has not been FDA approved but there are studies in progress.

@shelldct1 I got a BC Ultimate Vibe after extensive research and on recommendation of that model from a doctor's office that specializes in osteoporosis. Cost is $600 and mine is working great since I got it in Sep 2025. It is not to heavy for me to carry up and down the basement stairs.
It is important to look at the Amplitude (displacement, sometimes measured in g) as well as the frequency of a WBV plate. The BC Ultimate Vibe has both low (like Marodyne) and high (what I would consider medium now) amplitude vibration options. I do 10 minutes of standing, then 10 minutes in a sitting V pose to target further up in my body, closer to my hips and lumbar spine. There are other benefits of WBV that I also took into minor consideration when I decided to invest.
My take on WBV overall is that it is one tool in my kit. I'm never going to spend $thousands on a machine, but $600 is within my try-to-beat-OP-in-one-year budget.
Here is a link to my additional comments, and more links on another WBV thread. You might want to read more of other people's comments on that discussion line also.

Here is a link to one research paper, but I found that I had to study many sources to get what felt like a reasonable overview of WBV.
Whole-body vibration training and bone mineral density in older adults: an updated systematic review and meta-analysis
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC12908257/
EXCERPT: "Conclusions
Whole-body vibration training significantly increased bone mineral density in Ward's triangle and greater trochanter regions in elderly subjects, with smaller improvements in the femoral neck region. The L2‒L4 lumbar spine segment may substantially increase, whereas the L1‒L4 lumbar spine segment and total hip region have negligible effect."

2 Reactions@maryeve sometimes they have refurbished devices for sale for less. It comes with a 1-year warranty not 2, but it is less expensive.
If be happy to sell mine, perfect condition.
Why are you selling it? Did you not get any benefits from it? I'm using one in my PT office, but I'm only using it twice a week for about six or seven minutes. I doubt that it's doing anything for me, but I'm doing it. What's your experience? Did you take a new bone DEXA scan and it found out that it didn't help at all
.
@naoshapiro1
I went a different route, weight lifting, heel drops, HRT. Just found I never used it, panic bought when first diagnosed. Should go to someone who will use it.

I got my surgeon to prescribe me an External bone stimulator Orthofix it Velcro around u don't feel it ITS GREAT. CALL ORTHOFIX THERE ONLINE. YOU CAN BUY OUTRUGHT ACCORDING TO SLIDING SCALE IF INS WONT PAY. LASTS A YEAR BATTERY CHARGING. WORTH EVERY PENNY.

Thanks for responding.
I am sorry you are going through this. I can relate. Osteoporosis is a tough one. So much information thrown at us to evaluate especially when so many of us, like you are dealing with multiple issues. Hang in there. There is lots of good information,experience and support here .Stephanie
@naoshapiro1
I don't think they're has been any (or enough) credible evidence that the Marodyne increases bone density.
@lamay there must be another person named naomi shapiro because I'm naomi shapiro and I don't remember ever writing. There's not enough credible evidence that the vibrating machine works. I'm naomi shapiro but I don't have any email. That's naomi shapiro one my partner is worried that I would not be balanced on the machine. My PT person has a machine, but it has bars to hold you as you're being vibrated.
