Anyone have Laryngeal Sensory Neuropathy?
I am looking to talk with anyone that has been told they have larynx sensory neuropathy. In other words, over active nerves in the larynx.

@tkubby This could just about be my story! I was reading through and kept going back to the beginning to see if I had originally written this. The only difference is I went to Bastian's clinic and Mayo instead of Cleveland. Tramadol has been my savior for about 25 years. Haven't tried the Botox or the the cutting of the nerve but have done nerve blocks done with little improvement. I hope something new comes along soon! We've been waiting for the "miracle drug" to be approved for years now but it keeps getting rejected by the FDA. Maybe some day...
@bpske do you take Pregabalin all the time, everyday? Are there times when your LSN subsides and you stop the Pregabalin? My LSN usually lasts for 2-3 months, then subsides until the next cold, and starts up again. I’d like to try using Pregabalin during an acute phase only, but unsure if you can use it this way?
@isfa I take pregabalin twice a day, everyday. My reflux does subside, but I continue taking the pregabalin. Without taking it, my constant throat clearing will start again. It "calms" the nerves in my throat, because, according to my doctor, the nerve that goes down the throat, in my case is fried and hyper sensitive. Hence, the constant throat clearing, which started 50 years ago because of laryngeal/pharyngeal reflux. I'm not sure in your case if starting and stopping would be beneficial. That's something you need to discuss with your doctor. Good luck!

It is awful having to live like this. The tramadol does not seem to be helping me anymore and my doctor will not prescribe more than 3 tablets a day to me. I really don’t want to take more than 3 anyways but I need relief from the constant coughing. It’s physically and mentally exhausting. It sounds like you know how I feel.
Mayo Clinic has treated me with many of the 6 according to Dr . Amitryptiline worked 4 mths perfect then I got flu in Dec have been coughing since on #5 of the meds now nortryptiline and it seems to be working . I have had all the tests done GI that performed all the tests and a virtual Mayo GI Dr agreed it was not silent reflux. After following a site on LPR I am going to my general GI for discuss again. I have cut out 90% of acid watcher diet list but did not see any chance after almost 2 mths. Now med meds seem to be helping. Fearful that if I get a cold or respiratory situation it will start over again
I am at this 2 1/2 yrs now.
Very debilitating!!!
@bpske As a fellow sufferer, I am happy to hear that you have found something that works for you. Have you noticed any side effects from the Pregabalin? I am going to look into it. Thank you for posting this.
@pamelasanford As far as side effects from Pregabalin, for me we're only initially after starting it, which was minimal dizziness. It only lasted approximately 2 weeks before subsiding. Now, I have no side effects whatsoever.
