Mucas and coughing

My wife 69 years old... mucas we thought from lungs visited pulmanary doctor he started her on nebulizer..had ct scan showed very small sign of lung widening bronchiectasis we thought...could not do mucas test as it was not thick enough, stopped the nebulizer ...now there is spit with the clear mucas wet looking spitting up all day non stop with coughing...visited pulmanary again he said lungs are ok...gave her referal to see ear/nose/throat doctor waiting to do that....where is this crap coming from

I never used to cough a lot until my allergies went crazy this spring. I would be coughing so much and clearing my throat so much I got a sore throat daily and resorted to using that Chloraseptic throat numbing spray. It’s all coming from my sinuses confirmed by ENT doc.
I now take 2 Allegra a day plus ipratropium nasal spray plus the OTC cortisone nasal spray (generic at Costco is Allerfex). I would be sitting straight up in bed multiple times a night to get a good cough going to clear my throat. Ugh! I also use cough syrup if needed and Ricola Sugar Free Lemon mint cough drops.
I hate allergies and mine are year round just worse in summer!
P.S. I also have reflux which does NOT help!

@wisco50 yes reflux is tough and I could not tolerate Pepcid and Prilosec. What I did find the best remedy for me was Mylanta, a thick over the counter liquid that coats your throat and reflux is gone in minutes. I especially take it at bedtime and sleep with elevated pillows. Lying flat allows your reflux to creep up your throat. Also when you eat, it’s good to sit up straight and don’t lay down so you can digest properly at least 3 hours before bed. I also realized that at my age, I can’t eat acidic foods like tomatoes, certain fruits., etc. so eliminating such foods helped to eliminate my reflux. It’s a lot of trial and error. Good luck.
