Best to wait for ENT to look behind your wife’s throat and nasal passages but in the meantime you might try nasal irrigation. It could be several things going on. In my case when I had spring allergies I found NeilMed to rinse out my nasal drip. It comes in a box with bottle to fill with boiled water which you then cool to slightly warm temperature and mix in small pack of saline solution. Just read instructions well. It works great. Aside from that, after a length of time, my digestive system started to act up and became intolerant to acidic foods and began with reflux symptoms. To make a long story short I was advised that reflux does push acid up acid to back of throat causing nasal drip and constant clearing of throat from irritation. It’s hard waiting for specialist’s appointment here. In Delaware it takes months. Anyway good luck and hope your wife gets relief soon.

I'm so sorry that your wife is going through this. My mother had pulmonary emphysema and also had a nebulizer. What your wife is going through sounds exactly what my mother went through with the coughing and mucas and spitting it up. It's good you are seeing another doctor but also perhaps you should get a second opinion regarding a pulmonary doctor. I don't understand why the doctor took her off of the nebulizer. Those really do help. My husband had lung cancer and the nebulizer also helped him with a similar condition.
Possibly a humidifier might help her breathe better. Or if nothing else put a pan of plain water on the stove and let it boil. The steam from the water sometimes helps in those kinds of conditions. This is an old family recipe from the 1930's during the Depression. It was used when someone was ill and congested. Doctors and medicine were expensive and they often didn't have the money so they used what they had.

Prayer also helps. God made your wife and he can heal her. I'll say a prayer for her also.
I wish you both the best.

I have a chronic cough which is the result of a constant post nasal drip. (I have had it for years.) Nothing seems to help. I have seen my regular MD, a pulmonary MD, Allergy MD with study's done, and an ENT MD. I have done all kinds of medications & multiple nasal sprays & saline washes, used a Neti pod and use a humidifier at night time. Nothing seem to help. I can not be with out a tissue because my nose drips almost constantly. Sometimes lately I have had an unexpected nose bleed. I am out of ideas for who can help me with this .
