FWIW, I took 25 mg extended release Metoprolol daily for 4 years until early this year when I was instructed to discontinue. There was no tapering period. The only side effect I can report is that my resting heart rate gradually increased by about 5 bpm and my systolic bp increased (also gradually) by about 5 to 10 mmHg.

@rusjr I think that's the normal response to stopping the metoprolol. The same thing happened with my husband when his dosage of metoprolol was decreased. When my metoprolol dose was decreased, then stopped, it had no effect whatever on my bradycardia.

Hello again...Sounds like you have had quite an adventure with your heart! I am just two years into beginning my adventure. You have been proactive and have educated yourself. Your doctors have listened to how your heart is working and they have prescribed medication appropriately. Looks like you are doing everything right. May your heart behave itself now for many. many, more years, yes!
