Starting radiation for lung cancer: Any tips or words of wisdom?
I start radiation therapy tomorrow for 1.1 lung adeno. 2 weeks, 3 times a week. I can feel the anxiety starting to set in. Any wise words of wisdom? Any special lotions I should use? Any special care for your Skin? My daughter is coming to the first appointment, and she insists she's going to come to all of them. I don't want her to take the time away from her job. Did anyone drive themselves? Boy, this adultier- adult stuff is hard!

1 Reaction@mosconiar Prayers to you as well, this a hard road but somehow we get through it. Hope your treatments are not to severe. They will save your life.
@mosconiar you might want to put this in a thread of its own. That way it will get the attention you need.
I had six weeks of chemo (once a week) and proton radiation (5 times a week) concurrently. Fatigue is an issue. Try to do daily walks as long as you can tolerate. I used Cetaphil Advanced Radiance Lotion that was provided by my radiation team and had no adverse skin side effects.
Good luck!

2 Reactions@andycapp Also, I made smoothies with ice cream, protein powder, frozen berries and kale. Easy on the esophagus and really tasty too!

2 ReactionsI just finished my 4 SBRT treatments. And a year ago I had the same treatment for a different nodule. It's an almost 2 hour drive to my treatments and I found that I really appreciated the company of friends on the drive. Physically I felt fine, but emotionally I felt a bit fragile, so the presence of supportive friends was great. I had no side effects until about a month after treatment when I developed progressive shortness of breath. Turns out I had a light case of pneumonitis. I'm at risk of getting that again. Since its doesn't show up until around 3months, I'm just trying my best to live day by day. I'm much better at worrying than I am at staying in the present moment!
