Priming Tymlos pen?
Hi, I've read through lots of posts about starting Tymlos at a lower dose and that's what I'm going to try. One question I can't find the answer to: the directions say to prime the for the full dose. Is that ok to do if I plan to start with 4 clicks? Or should I also prime with only 4 clicks? Thanks in advance for any advice!!

@osteopatient2026 Yes, extra hydration keeps me from having syncope issues.

1 ReactionI messed up with the instructions so in order to give myself an injection, I have to start in the primer every time. So far, so good. No side effects. Almost one month on Tymlos. I hate having osteoporosis but it’s either taking the medication or breaking bones and crushing vertebrae doing the slightest things.

3 ReactionsAlidamc, Do you mean that you have to prime before every injection. Are you seeing bubbles in the pen.
@alidamc
If you are “starting” the primer every time you go to inject yourself by pushing the injector with your thumb all the way till it stops…you are also ejecting the Tymlos dose.
You will have used up all of your Tymlos in 15 days approximately rather than the 30 days you need for each box of Tymlos. That is a very expensive use of it…just priming the pen is to remove the air between the liquid and the needle on the first use of the pen only…very rarely do you need to do this more than once…call your Tymlos nurse and tell them you may have a defective pen.

5 Reactions@osteopatient2026 I thought my injection pen was going down faster than it should. Thanks for that information, but it’s the only way I can do it.
@gently no bubbles but it’s the only way to give the injection. I wonder if I should do it every other day now? I messed up at the very beginning and it won’t work unless I prime it every time now. I watched the video so many times. I will call the drug company.

Call them asap …they will probably send you a replacement…it’s $3000 month or there abouts…not to be trifled with that’s for sure.

3 Reactions@alidamc, it sounds like a defective pen. Osteopatient26 has the best advice. I'd just tell them that the pen is defective.
Are you thinking that it works at full dose and so you'd take it every other day?
I've heard (on site) of other people with defective pens. They get replacement pens quickly.
