First PFT (pulmonary function test): What can I expect?

Posted by 19rose63 @19rose63, 3 days ago

I have my first PFT scheduled for Aug 17. What can I expect? What questions should I ask? When will I get the results?

Lots of breathing with face mask. Hold your breath excel deep and then do it all again after nebulizer. Will measure lung capacity-blood oxygen level-etc.

@19rose63 As @jerdonus said, lots of various breathing. Deep breath, long exhale, etc. I sat in a chamber and put a clip on my nose while doing each breathing segment. It is not a difficult test, nothing to be worried about. I am on the patient portal and received my results the next day. They may be a little difficult to understand but at the very end of the report was a small summary that helped. It is best to let your doctor explain the results. Although, I did an internet search on the results to get some info before my follow up visit. Best of luck!
