Grover disease: is a final healing possible???
Hi, from Italy. I've been fighting against Grover for two and a half years: I started with cortisone pills (which works as long as you can take it); then 3 months of Dupixent, with no result; then some months with a retinoid, Acitretin, an again no result. Now again a monoclonal antibody, Adtralza injections (Tralokinumab) and after four months ...no result. Doctors who are treating me say that I have to continue for some more months because Tralokinumab works very slowly. ??? Meanwhile I get some relief only using Clobesol cream. I'd like to know if some of you had similar treatments having a complete, (complete and final!) healing. Or a complete healing with different drugs. Grazie e ciao!

I'd be interested to know if it works as well for you as it has for me.
@margus
So glad that you have found relief! I had shared my experience with OTC solution of Witch Hazel on this site and the positive effect, and I'm sure the added Tea Tree improves. Hope to see more notes on the progress. Thanks.

1 ReactionThank you for that feedback elderly1, much appreciated. It's a horrible thing to have to think it's there for ever and ever, so let's hope my little product does it for others too.
I found the Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Concealer Stick on Amazon. It says 2g and is $15.99, 43% off. It shows typical price of $27.93.
For some reason the pricing I added for Boots Chemist in UK, has been changed to dollars. The price is 4 UK pounds and ninety five pence.

It should be Tea Tree and Witch Hazel Blemish Stick 85g from Boots Chemist in UK. If you are in USA I really can't comment on the dollar price.
Hi, I’m Italian too and have had Grover’s disease for a few years; I felt like the only one with this horrible condition. I’ve just stopped taking acitretin for a while due to side effects—it was working, but it was causing a separate case of urticarial dermatitis. Right now, I’m stable, though a few papules still pop up when it’s hot; before the treatment, I was covered in them.
I have something similar but they are calling it Purigio Nodularis. I have had for about 4 years now and nothing has helped. I am back on Nemluvio now.
For me, no drugs required. Just apply tea tree & witch hazel cream stick to the affected area, 2 or 3 times a day, while keeping clean and sweat free as much as possible, and you get immediate improvement, almost gone in a week. If it comes back, just repeat the process and it is gone again in a few days.

Even though I've been in remission for over 5 years because of cilantro I do not believe there is a cure. It's lurking waiting to become active again.
I also have Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia, CLL, for which I am one the lucky 2% for which 15 years ago this blood disease regressed without treatment of any kind back into my bone marrow and now have I zero signs of leukemia in my blood. Like GD the doctors won't call it a cure because it could become active again.
So sorry, I understand your suffering, For most, including myself, GD was cyclical. My first oubreak like yours was on my trunk and abdomen. I found zero relief from the dozen of prescribed meds including steroids. I have other forms of eczema (all in remission for years now) for which certain steroids helped temporarily.
After the 1 year outbreak I develped a pattern for several years of 6 months of active GD and 6 months of dormant GD.
When the doctor experimented with a steroid shot, Kenalog 40 which he would only give to me once a year, like you I had hair loss and dry skin. It did drop my internal histamine level, but made zero differenc in the GD rash or itching symtoms.
The only product that helped me with the itching and pain symptoms was capsacian (chili pepper). The brand Flanax sold a lotion that was free of my Allergic Contant Dermatitis allergens. It burns intially, then within a minute the burning stops and it would minimize the itching and pain for about 30 minutes. This allowed me enough time to fall asleep. Our histamine levels are higher in the evening and laying in bed with nothing to distract us from the itching and falling asleep is difficult. It's a little tiny bottle and you need help applying to your back. You need to wear protective vinyl gloves because if you get it on your hands and then run your eyes the burning would be unbearable.
