PD "off" Periods and Asthma
Hello all. I've noticed that sometimes when my "off" periods go a little long or are unexpected, I often have asthma. I am not sure if PD brings this on or if the asthma leads to the extended "off" period, but a puff or two of my control inhaler often stimulates a change to an "on" period. Has anyone else experienced this?

That is an interesting observation you made about off-times and asthma. I will look forward to hearing if anyone else has noticed that correlation. How long ago were you diagnosed with PD, and how long ago were you diagnosed with asthma?

1 Reaction@hopeful33250 I was diagnosed with PD in 2017, but I probably had it since 2012. I've had mild asthma all my life, but I've needed an asthma control inhaler more recently. I happened to live in a place that had somewhat polluted air a few years ago, so that may have made my asthma worse.

I understand about pollution and asthma. Air quality certainly affects breathing problems. Do you use a steroid inhaler?
@hopeful33250 No, it isn't serious enough for a steroid inhaler. I just have to use a Symbicort inhaler from time to time.

No problem—sometimes autocorrect changes our words! I also take Symbicort, but I use it regularly. For me, asthma is a recent diagnosis.
I've never noticed any correlation between asthma and off-times with PD, but you do provide an interesting thought.

Question. When you say “recent diagnosis”. Do you mean it is bc of PD that you have asthma?
Also. When you guys are saying “off” periods you mean PD symptoms are off correct?

No, my asthma does not appear to be related to PD. PD was diagnosed many years ago, whereas asthma is a recent diagnosis. I was simply responding to @nova11723's post.
