Your results of scoliosis surgery from T1 to pelvis? Unsure about it.

I am preparing for a T1 to pelvis scoliosis surgery. Very unsured if I should do it

I canceled my T10 to pelvis because I was so unsure ..other doctors suggested to do L4L5 and possibly L2 or3...i think my pain is from the stenosis...I'm probably going to do the smaller surgery...with hopes that it will last..as my scoliosis is 22 (mild)...Im kinda terrified of big surgery

@francine498 One other suggestion: my Internal Medicine doctor had a patient who had miraculous results with a Dr. Tyler Koski at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. That's not too, too far from you. Well, closer than from where I am in Florida. You might want to talk with him while you are checking around

@bassetmom Tyler Koski did my T10 to bottom of spine surgery 11 months ago and I am really good. I am 73 and knew I needed to get it done before I got too old.
He is at Northwestern in Chicago.
Good luck.

I have a similar surgery coming up in October of this year. I have scoliosis from T-14 to my pelvis and flat back syndrome, I didn't know there was such malady.
I am very apprehensive of this surgery. Does anyone else share my fears?

Ask your doctor what Arachnoiditis is.

@koneil Ask your doctors to explain Arachnoiditis to you.
And you should look into it

What are they going to do to your T1-T12?

@francine498 we presume you’re in pain as the reason for your surgery? My scoliosis is 20-22 degrees lumbar and thoracic curves which do not cause me much issue. I had a fusion in 1988 for spondylolisthesis grade II after a fall from an earthquake. I don’t need additional surgery at this point (74 y.o.) and hope I will not need it in the future.

You should feel comfortable to talk the pros and cons. I had T1-T12 fusion with Luque rods 41 years ago. I have always had lumbar discomfort b/c that is the only (other than cervical) place that can bend and rotate. I now have a bit of arthritis but nothing more than any other active 54 yr old menopauser. If you are concerned about long term, this is my story!
