No oxygen all day
I was told months ago that I have stage 4 COPD. I don’t use oxygen at night. Maybe periodically during the day. I haven’t used it at all today. It is possible I don’t have stage 4? I meet with a pulmonologist soon.

The need for O2 is determined by how well (or poorly) the O2 is transferred from your lungs to the rest of your body. Sone folks with pretty good lungs have bad transfer or diffusion while others either very damaged lungs have excellent diffusion and don’t need or benefit from supplemental O2. Generally, using a device such as a pulse oximeter is the tool for helping determine whether a person needs O2 and at what flow rate under which conditions.
A person’s “stage” of COPD doesn’t really determine whether supplemental O2 is or is not needed. Your pulmonologist should be able to explain all of this & help you develop a good treatment plan.
your PFT will determine what stage you are. I'm not a doctor but if you don't need supplemental oxygen you are not stage 4!
You sound just like me! Stage four but I don’t have oxygen at night very seldom during the day. Did you have a PFT that determined your stage?
I did have a PFT and knew I flunked pretty badly. But I don’t have the symptoms they list for Stage four COPD. I think it’s just numbers they go by and not the person so much.
