Needing a meal replacement drink. Having a hard to keep weight on
I’m 6.5 years cancer free from an esophegectomy at Mayo Clinic, but I’m having a difficult time keeping my weight on (114lbs). I am an active person, eat when Im hungry, but not getting in enough calories. Im needing some suggestion's for a meal replacement protein drink or powder that is low sugar, high in calories and good quality. I would appreciate and welcome any and all suggestions.

I keep hearing people talk about keeping your diet low sugar. When I was having issues getting my weight back up luckily I had an oncologist that said eat whatever you can tolerate. In the beginning my diet consisted mainly with carnation instant breakfast with whole milk and ice cream, body armor drinks and food that could be mashed while providing protein and potassium (baked beans, chili, minestrone soup)
Hope this helps

2 ReactionsI do eat everything can tolerate just not often enough and I’m busy like a beaver, especially working in my yard in the summer or on the golf course. I was just thinking downing a. High protein drink I could tolerate would assist me with calories.
Thanks for your suggestion.
We were able to find Protein2o on Amazon. It has 20 grams of protein and is clear liquid. There is also ice cream and yogurt. We bought an emulsifier and use it for solids like small pieces of meat and veggies and then pour it over mashed potatoes. Hope this helps.

2 ReactionsHi
My wife makes me milkshakes every night and adds honey protein powder and whatever else she wants as long as it tastes like chocolate. I have a hard time being hungry so this helps with weight loss.
Boost very high calorie
I use Fairlife Core Power proten drinks. They have 42 g protein and 230 calories per 14 ounce bottle. The calorie count isn't huge because they use some artificial sweeteners, but they're really high in whey protein isolate.
@dougandmargie69, welcome. Are you also living with esophageal cancer?
Try liquid hope or nourish you can get them both on Amazon they're vegan high calorie no artificial sugars no onions no chemicals. I went in weighing 108 and came out weighing 108 because I used them in my feeding tube and afterwards I use them as a meal liquid taste like squash you can eat it cold or hot. I never had nourish, but those are in fruit flavors if you Dr calls the manufacturer, you might be able to get seven or more free samples. They are expensive but well worth it. I like hemp powder and hemp hearts. I get them from a company in Colorado called Get Chia.Com. They come in 3 pound bags and should be refrigerated after you open them. I grind the hemp hearts I eat the ham powder and the ham hearts in a mixture with nut butters in the morning, not too much because they're very high in calorie and they are a mixture of fat and protein. They have a nutty flavor. I really do hope that this helps a little bit. I'm lactose intolerant so no milk products work for me and I can't eat onions or artificial sweeteners. They make me very sick so I really had to work hard to find a food that I could digest.
I’m 5 years post esophagectomy.
Everyone’s journey is different, something that helped me with weight was to get my body to absorb food and nutrients. An esophagectomy alters the way your digestive system works. In my case my pancreas no longer produces sufficient amounts of pancreatic enzymes. Food just flows right through me.
I started taking pancreatic enzymes (Pure encapsulations from Amazon). I’ve gained weight, fatigue is gone and I now have regular BMs.
What I thought was dumping syndrome has disappeared.
