Bone marrow biopsy: Was it painful?

I've had 2 bone marrow biopsy's. One at the local hospital here in Grand Rapids Mi and the other at the VA hospital in Ann Arbor Mich. I was awake for both and both were painless. I didn't even feel the shot to numb me up. 45 mins later and I was back on my way home. Whats your feeling about Marquette as a cancer center?

I had one at City of Hope here in California. I always ask for sedation if available. Slept through the entire procedure.

Ther two PAs who did all my BMB completed them with skill. I had no lasting effect. Not any pain either. All bodies are different.

Has anyone had a bone marrow biopsy that required one or more CT scans during the procedure? If so, were the CT scans done with or without sedation? Thanks so much!

Mayo! Had my first there. Sedation propofol, went to sleep woke up like nothing happened. No need to be uncomfortable when there options these days🤗

@pillinfo Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect! Are your doctors telling you that is needed, and did they explain why? CT scans are typically done with no sedation, in my experience.

Anytime we need to have a CT scan, and contrast might be involved, please know what your kidney function number is, your eGFR. Under 30, a contrast dye is not advisable, since it will need to clear through your kidneys and can compromise them further.

I see many have had sedation here. When my folks were in there 70-80 on and had sedation (put to sleep), I remember they would tell me for days afterwards the they always felt like crap, didn't feel good at all. Is sedation and anathema the same? Sedation/anathema never bother me before until my sinus biopsy last Wed. I'm 77 and I've felt like death warmed over since (4 days). Don't know if its got anything do with my acute leukemia or the anathema. My folks told me it takes anathema a lot longer to wear off in old people. Anyone else have that experience?

@loribmt Sorry thats what I heard, even my ENT (ears, nose and throat) doctor said the same thing. He said since it was 4 days ago since my biopsy I'm in the middle of recuperating from it. I don't know how true it is.
