My Parkinson's life is so confusing - this is not easy.
I was officially diagnosed with Parkinson's May of 2019. I have been taking Rytary since diagnosis and can say it really does help me feel "normal", but just for windows of time. Sometimes the windows lasts a very short time, sometimes longer. I am not as sharp minded as I used to be. I just don't understand how my body can feel so bad a lot of the time, then feel normal at other times. Does anyone else struggle with accepting this as just the normal life of a Parkinson's sufferer?

I also wonder why this happened to me. I have been super healthy all my life. Never had any health problems like everyone else in my family. Now I have just about every side affect with Parkinson's. My knees are weak and never know from day to day how weak. I am constantly nauseated and dizzy. Eyesight is getting worse. I live alone so must move slowly for fear of falling. Hopefully my doctors will help me live a more normal life.

1 Reaction@kar907 I know how weird some of this sounds but I look at things from every angle. One of my favorite songs is "Moonshadow," which I sang often. One of my favorite movies - "Awakenings," mainly for Robin Williams. Or am I in this boat because I spent my working life chasing deadlines? I think you are very courageous to live alone

There probably isn't an answer to why certain of us get PD, while others don't. However, here is a link to Mayo Clinic's website, where PD is discussed. If you scroll down the page, you will see that certain causes for PD are mentioned. These include environmental factors, genetic predisposition, and some drugs.

While the cause of your PD diagnosis may never be understood, the important decision we all make for ourselves is to live our best life. This includes a healthy lifestyle: proper nutrition, regular exercise, and follow-up appointments with your medical team.

1 Reaction@johnnyvsn I have weak legs and one knee replaced with the other in need of it, but at 82 I just can't see going through all that. My exercise includes my daily walk to my mailbox plus all my household chores. I miss jogging and the gym but am always having dizzy spells so have to watch it. Guess I shouldn't complain as things could always be so much worse!

3 Reactions@goatgirl28 Thanks. I have enjoyed living alone but recently let my son move in as he needed a place. He is a musician and an astrology expert but those careers don't make any money today. AI and corporations have taken over. It's good to know he is here in care of emergencies but I miss my independence.
