Anyone with JAK2 mutation also dealing with aortic aneurysm?
Hi, have had ET and Jak2 for 12 years, have been taking HU for the last 3 years, I am 64 years old. During a routine check up my Doctor noticed a pulsating around my belly button. She did an ultrasound and said it looked normal but has sent me to an Ultrasound Clinic to double check, which I'm grateful for. She said that the Jak2 mutation can cause aortic aneurysms, was wondered if anyone has encountered this.

I can imagine that they monitored the brain aneurysm closely as you underwent treatment for a blood cancer. May I ask you what type of blood cancer you have/had? What treatments?
@colleenyoung
Polycythemia Vera with JAK2 Mutation. So far I have had one round of chemo and I take 3 500 MG Hydroxyurea capsules a day. The doctors are happy with my last round of blood work.
I am scheduled for brain surgery this coming week.

1 Reaction@colleenyoung I have both, with the JAK2 being the cause of my Polycythemia Vera. I’m on hydroxyurea for this. I also had AFIB. Now resolved, but remaining on a blood thinner.
The aneurysm was diagnosed about 4 years ago. None of my Health Care Providers have ever mentioned a correlation between the two.
I have PV with jak2 and aortic aneurysm. Just been getting phlebotomys only monthly. I had no idea they are all related.
