WEIGHT BEARING AND RESISTANCE TRAINING
@joglow
Your insurance won't cover meds?
I don't feel clear about what you want from supplements? What is your goal?
@gravity3
Only the generic ones.
@joglow
Are you in the u.s.? Have you spoken with your doctor about this? Do you have an objection to using a generic?
I was on fosamax. It gave me heartburn. Im in the US.
@gmj7375 I take Jarrow Bone-up but have no idea if it's doing any good. I'm about out and hoping to find a liquid supplement I can take as I don't do well with big pills and I have to take 2 3x day and I never remember. I've also been told you MUST take Calcium/Vitamin D with a fatty meal for the best absorption. Also a hassle.

2 ReactionsI try to get my calcium with food rather than supplements. It is not that hard. Fortunately i am not lactose intolerant. I drink milk or butter milk, fortified orange juice in moderation, and eat various cheeses, yogurt, calcium fortified cereals, boiled eggs, and a host of other foods that also provide a small amount of calcium such as fish. I switch up my calcium sources every day so I am gettimg the nutrients my body needs, and i try to reach as close to 1,000 mg as possible. Once you figure out approx how many mg is contained in each source, it becomes habit. I take vitamin D and magnesium to aid with absorption. I also take Raloxifene. As someone else mentioned exercise and resistance bands are essential for a good outcome. There is no good way to battle osteoporosis without work whether it is research, test monitoring, exercise, or staying on top of drug treatmemts, it takes effort.

4 Reactions@laren3 How much do you do? I used to be in a gym but over past 3-4 years I have had gluteal tendinopathy keeping me from exercising. I have osteopenia but on the edge of osteoporosis. I think I can handle hand weights but wondering how much to do daily. I have resistance bands but irritate my tendons. Just curious.
