How do you deal with constipation?

I'm not regular and easily triggered when traveling or stress in general. How do you guys deal with constipation caused from external factors?

I have similar issues. I am trying to stick to smaller meals, slowing down while eating and chewing more., hydration. I have found that visceral massage has helped a great deal.

small handful of blueberries daily, balance of how much fiber works, and what does not. Truly a journey of trial and error and being consistent and relying on multiple factors to help.

I have difficulty eating high fiber foods, makes constipation worse for me.. also, slow motility is the bigger issue. Sometimes my large intestines stall out at the top of my abdomen and I don’t know what to do from there… any insights??

@cherrybaby I just recently learned that taking a ginger supplement 500 MG‘s three times a day helps move food through your digestive system faster. I’ve only tried it twice and it really did work. I think if you start, you should start slowly unless you’re severely constipated, then go for it. But do your own research.

Research the Vibrant capsule. It is a battery powered initiated capsule that promotes peristalsis, the wavelike movements in your intestines. It’s expensive go figure and out of pocket, but it’s medicine free. Look it up. I have been severely constipated over 30 years. My colon barely moves. I do take MiraLAX, magnesium at night with gummy fiber chews and take Linzess every am still but the Vibrant capsule which I take 5 out of 7 evenings helps me to get past the narrowed passages in my colon and I have more of a normal regular BM. It Virates inside the intestines ad it travels promoting peristalsis. It has helped me about 50-60 present and that is significant! I’m praying Medicare gets it approved one day. I’m 66 and retired and I have 3, 3 tier drugs which Medicare doesn’t pay for. I finally got my Tirosint Solution approved with the help of an excellent thyroid Dr but the Medicare prescription is more expensive than the out of pocket cost for it. I also have to meet a high yearly deductible. I would have to poverty level to get it cheaper. The people who worked and saved for retirement, like NOT getting their hair and nails and plastic surgery but payed off their house car are still strapped because of out of pocket medical cost of meds. It’s 169 a month and for some it’s higher, but as long as I can manage to pay that I’ll continue. Only major thing is you can’t have an MRI because the capsule is met at with a battery in it. It’s the size of a big hard vitamin. You put it into n electric powered pad in to turn on the capsule.

For me being dehydrated can cause constipation, I don't drink plain water because it can dehydrate me more so my drinks need to have sodium and glucose in them. Eating to much fiber can cause constipation also. Fiber really doesn't make constipation better for most people. When I am constipated I drink 8 ounces apple/white grape juice before bed and in the morning I have a couple bowel movements. Eating easy to digest foods also helps. I have short bowel syndrome but I still get constipated. I am to eat a low fiber diet. My diet is high carbs/calories, moderate protein and low fiber. Drinking hot herbal tea at night also helps my constipation. Miralax makes my constipation worse. Dulcolax helps my constipation if it's real bad,3 Dulcolax and I drink some apple/white grape juice with it before bed.
